Man if your gonna go through all the trouble of replacing an HU just get an aftermarket one. You won't be dissappointed, and its really not that much work. If nothing else you can pay someone to do it for you. Its an easy DIY job.

One of the main reasons I'm probably going w/ a Nakamichi radio is for the almost pefect stock look (the other reason is SQ). I like simple, elegant radios. I have a fancy Alpine sitting in my garage I gotta sell that I took outa my other car. It's a great deck, just flashy blue. Anyone want it? I got amps, speakers, and wires too.

CDA-7875, it's about 1.5yrs old. 60x4 internal, F/R/S pre outs (sub is 4v), motorized detachable face, XM ready, remote, original box & stuff
This is a general pic of it, it shows what it really looks like when powered up. Great radio, it's never given me any probs I just don't think I'll like the look in my CL. I would be more than happy to provide actual images of the real unit if anyone is interested. It was $450 new.
I've also got two MTX amps, two BRAND NEW MTX 10s w/ FREE Q-Logic boxes, a pair of Polk Audio EX3s, and a ton of wires.

hey CLpower I ended up not taking the head and the speakers off of SooDARK so you can trade or buy those from him. I got the amp and subs instead.

stock would be cheap, what does a decent headunit and this adapter run?
Guys I have the stock tape player too, is there any chance of hooking that up to an aftermarket HU or is it basically just gonna get wasted?

Depends what kinda speakers you get. You gonna get components or coaxials?
Unless you are bored with the stock radio, I'd do that and use the saved money on some go items.

I don't mean to nag but the factory BOSE headunit has the same output as the non-BOSE deck. There is no line level out on either of them. I have 6 or 7 BOSE and non-BOSE factory Honda head units from previous CIVIC installs. They're all the same deck. Different logo's.

I hooked up an Alpine 7863 deck (60 x 4) to my Bose system ('97 Acura 3.0 CL Premium). I didn't do it myself, but Stereo Warehouse had to do it, but I believe all they did was re-wire the entire car to have the speakers powered from the HU instead of the stock amp the car came with. It sounds great

thats still not too bad.
everyone i talked to (bestbuy, frys, etc) said that if you want to add ANYTHING to the bose system, you have to rip out the whole speil and replace everything.
so what exactly can be done to the bose audio to make it sound nice. a new amp? new HU? i myself am looking to upgrade it a bit.

I had a 300zx TT and it had also the bose system. Eventually I changed it to an aftermarket radio leaving the stock speakers. From what i remmember they Installed it like you would another radio exept on the speaker outputs they converted it to low output (RCA). so basically the spekers went hooked up to the head unit with the rca's and between the headunit and speakers went a rca filter. this was all because each speaker had their own amp.
Thought this might help.

If you ever need anything stereo. DO NOT go to the Stereo Wherehouse. I know it's cheap but that place is all wrong. Come to CarToys bro. I'll hook it up. BTW... MB Quart clearance. Much shit on sale for hundreds of dollars off. Perfect time to outfit the CL with some sweet speakers. Most of the sets are way below cost.
