H22a Took Me 1 Whole Year

Today might be the day guys. Exactly one year ago... .my engine blew on the freeway due to the acura recall that I did not know about on the 97 2.2's Since then I have been on my quest to convert my CL to a H22A. For the last 9 months I have been driving it as an auto h22a running it on a h22a tranny but a CL ecu. Ran like shit... all the time.... I started my 5 spd conversion 2 weeks ago and after spending $550 from fucken crooks at some dipshit junk yard that gave me a busted master cyl and slave cyl and the wrong axle.... and $350 on my h23 tranny my quest is almost complete. My pedals are in, shifter is in, p13 is ready to go in.... picking up new intermediate shaft with new driver side axle, 5 spd tranny mount and new master and slave cyl. ITS ALL COMING TOGETHER!!! For those people that want to do the swap but have not? Here are some pearls of wisdom. Prepare more money then you think you will need.... and way more down time then you will expect. Just wanted to thank Dcsquirm for all the encouragement and advice.... over the last year... and I will be posting pics finally....

now the final thing after today is to learn how to drive stick...

Anyone know how my tranny will perform. I am using a H23 Tranny rather then the h22. How fast would i run a 1/4 mile in? I was too poor to buy an h22..... h23 only cost 350.

well you should run about mid 14's bone stock...my best run was 14.8 and i am using the CL tranny so my gears are a little longer than the h23...

technically the CL tranny should make you much slower... and you stripped everything.... i dont think the weight reduction would make you slower.

well the only thing i can think of is that he has to get used to it...when i first did the swap and went to the track i was running mid to low 15's mostly mid..
but that was because i had to learn my car all over ..
after a while (when i new how to drive my car with the h22) i was able to get it down to 14.8......

i am not trying to dis vtecpowersumo but maybe i can drive better than he can...."no disrespect"

mostly, i think he just needs to learn his car
he should run mid 14's easy!!!!!!!

d98 are you sure its a type s h22? From your pics the h22 did not have a red valve cover like the type s does. And if it is a type s are you running a turbo kit with the stock pistons? If so the stock type s pistons have 11.1 compression which really do not mix with a turbo. If your not running on stock pistons what pistons do you have? Forged or cast?

Did you sleeve your block and if so what sleeve did you get and how much did it run you?

Ok something is not adding up here. It is impossible to run forged pistons on a h22 block without sleeving the block. H22 sleeves have an FRM (Fiber Reinforced Metal) coating which honda uses to make the sleeves thin but strong. The problem is the AL->AL contact of forged internals with the FRM liners is that they will score the cylinder real bad. Do to that liner you can only run cast pistons on stock sleeves. That being said if you did not sleeve your block you can't run forged internals. If you don't belive me call JE, Arias, Wiseco and they tell you the same thing. Ask f0de or even niedejb they also tell you whats up. I'm not doubting you or your swap or anything like but I know h22's and I know you can't run forged pistons on stock sleeves. Maybe you do have forged pistons and your scoring away at your cylinder walls really bad. But if you look at any other prelude forum online you also see the same thing I just wrote.
