I've heard in this forum that a H22 will fit first gens, I have a 2.3 5 speed and I would like to know if the H22A will fit also and whats the difference between it and the H22?

h22a= '92+ jdm h22 200 hp dohc vtec engine

h22a1= '92-'96 usdm h22 190 hp dohc vtec engine

h22a4= '97+ usdm h22 200 hp dohc vtec engine

h22= any of the above, its just an generic term for the engine

Any of the above will fit in your car. Do a search and you'll find all the info you need.

the tranny you use all depends on your personal preference..
i am using my CL tranny on my H22 engine...i am doing this because my car is turboed...the longer gears are better for turbo..
if you are going all motor or NOS the H22 tranny is probably a better way to go...but hey before i was turbo i ran 14.8 with the cl tranny (long ass gears)..that was with a completely stock motor...no mods if i had a H22 tranny or H23 tranny my times would have been a little better..
oh the H23 gears are a little longer than the H22 but are still shorter than the F22/F23 tranny
