H22 turbo swap in 1997 CL 2.2 auto

Ok who's done this swap? From all the searches i've looked at, CL-Pride is the closest i found to possibly doing it but i've havent heard from him since. Anyone know how much improvement this should get me over stock?? What is the total cost?? How reliable is it? Thanks

I would like to swap a H22A into a 2.2 Cl as well. I was refered to this board from H-A.net and told that a few members have swapped the h22a into their cl's. Are there any recomendations like to use a OBD1 or 2 motor/ecu? Will the stock harness plug into everything ok? thanks!

i am one of those peeps that has done this swap(the first if im not mistaken)

dcsquirm88 has done the swap and converted his car to manual from auto....

it would realy be your choice as to what motor you wanted either way you can use an obd1 or obd2 ecu..you will have to do some rewiring though...it wont just plug in & play

This is very true, however, many swaps come complete with H22 trannies.

Your car would haul ass if you put a h22 in it and turbocharged it...Are you tryin to convert it to a stick or leave it automatic? The h22 complete swap would probably cost you like 1500-2700 just for the stuff. Install would a decent amount, estimate around 600-800. Turbos are expensive, you're lookin at like 2-5 G's....And the install on that is quite a bit as well....

thanks for all the replies. I was planning on putting a new tranny along with the h22. planning on keeping it auto. i've been looking at ebay and i've seen some h22 with trannies going for about 2500 bucks not including delivery. as for the turbo, anybody got any good places to look for one??? yeah it would be awesome to do it. lots of work but i think the payoff will be there.

anybody else with info please let me know. thanks a million.

it is a pain in the ass to convert to a 5/6 speed manual transmission, but the payoff might be worth it, Too rich for my blood though

i live in colorado and my friend runs a speed shop. so he's gonna do the swap for 600 and changing at to mt for 400. and he's keep telling me to go jdm. so i sold my h22 that i bought couple of month ago for 2500 which i got it for 1500. i can get the jdm for 2800 so i did it and now i am saving money to do some engine work before i put it in my car. turbo wise i want to put a fmax kit but if my friend have enough time to do some shit i will go all custom. he also got some hook up for machine shops so.....i hope it'll go well.

not so much. I did it to mine and it was easy as pie. The only thing that is pain is finding the parts. But if you live in a well populated area it shouldnt be a problem finding them.
