Grinding Noise at 40mph +

Grinding Noise at 40mph +
My CL is making a strange grinding noise at speeds of 40mph + . Sounds like it is coming from the back left wheel. I read in a post that this could be the brake sensor hitting the rotor. My dealer can only fit me in 1 week from now.
Any harm in driving the car until then?
Also, can anyone tell me whats involved with this & how much it costs?
