u could have direct wired it to the harness. w/o the adapter. thats what i did and it worked perfect.

So you didn't have to bypass the amp??? Are you still using the stock speakers??

the sound is supposed to be better with the FAI3...it converts the factory amp...to the aftermarket HU level...so the stock speakers work fine for me....im not sure how it would sound without the adpater..i might try and see....

its best to get that..otherwise they will tell you to rewire the whole stereo...thats time consuming and useless..thats why the FAI3 is good...cause you can also add you own amp to the FAI3 to bypass the stock amp...has 3 settings..thats the good part...you can upgrade without rewireing the whole system....

Where did you hook up the FAI3, near the new HU or in the trunk running directly off the amp???

I didn't use it either. Does your system distort when you turn it up too loud?? I dont have an amp and speakers yet I am just running the stock Bose and it is annoying as hell. I know I most likely can fix the problem by adjusting it, but I don'e feel like removing the dash again. Do you have access to you FAI3 unit??

no..i dont have access...i tuned all the gains while my dash was apart.....and no...mine doesnt distort, thats what the gains are for...those need to be set at the right level..to high and it distorts it....to low and you get no sound.....you should take the time to take your dash aprt and tune it......youll thank yourself....

I would still bypass the amp...sound even better, because all you're doing is still running sound out of the factory amp instead of the more powerful 6500 amp....

yeah, i know it's a bitch but it'll sound better

Another question to tack on....When you spoke of "tuning the gains"

What does that exactly mean?
