Got fired from Radioshack for no reason! should i sue?

I need a place to vent otherwise I might go nuts. I have been working for Radioshack for the last three years and I got fired yesterday. Get this, the reason they gave me for firing me
and two other employees (five total for store, including the manager) was that we failed to protect company assets. I was like What the fock? our store has been ripped off a couple of
times in the last couple of months; things like DVD players, handheld TVs and such. So last Sunday a couple of handheld TVs that were attached to metal brackets get stolen (worth about $100) and the manager finds a sprint pcs phone missing from the backroom. the b*tch blames it on us and swears that the phone was there on Saturday (we have anywhere between 60-100 cell phones at a time, but she still swears that all of them were there). on Monday she asks me if I had sold any phones out of the cage, since I dint I told her that I had not been in the cage
at all. the beitch doesn't believe me and asks me two more times, I got pissed at her for accusing me so I told her to check the surveillance tapes if she dint believed me. On Tuesday
I get a phone call from the district manager and he tells me that he had to terminate my employment. So I asked him why and he tells me that im being fired for "failing to protect
inventory" I told him that I had been working at that store for three years and that I was the oldest store employee besides the manager and that I had never had any problems at all.
He responds by saying that he dint care how long I had been there and that he was firing every one that worked that day. so I tell him that I had only worked two hours that day, I just
opened the store and went back to close it, but he said he dint care and that I was fired. that m%ther fu%$%# showed no f#cking remorse and acted like a total jackass. So I asked him
if they had review the security tapes and found out if it really was an employee stealing and he said that they had no gone over the tapes and that the company was not going to
bother checking them. Im disappointed with the company's attitude of not trying to find out the real problem, but instead just firing turning their back on devoted employees.
What worries me the most is that they are blaming us of failure to protect inventory, which is like saying that I looked away while I purposely let other people steal and that ruins my reputation and makes me sound like an accomplice in a robbery. How in hell am I supposed to find another job with made up bu(( $hit like this on my records. Now all three of us are with out job just because some a$$ hole was too lazy to do his JOB! can we sue? Im not interested in the money, its just that I wont let anyone trample over my family name and defame my character without any proof! can anyone tell me if this is legal? Any advice is really appreciated and thanks guys for taking the time to read this post and letting me vent before I go out and do something I will later regret.

Yes, get a lawyer. If they have no proof you did not follow protocol, then they can't fire you.

Firing you for failure to protect assests doesn't cut it. It's is the corporations responsibility to have theft prevention measures in place including security cameras, etc. At the least, only the manager should have been fired, not all of you.

I the tapes show a customer stealing the items, then the only people at fault are the thieves and Radio Shack for not having good enough security measures.

dang...sorry to hear you lost your job.

think back when you first got hired. many companies make their employees sign a paper saying that they can let you go whenever they want for whatever reasons. if you did sign this paper...then you cant do anything.

but you know what....F them....it is obvious that they all are a bunch on jackasses....go find a better job!!!

Actually, I guess it's 100% legal to terminate an emplyee with no specific reason at all.. or at least they aren't requested to specify a reason...

The only ground to sue, if there is your human rights are violated.

False acusations could be grounds. The right to terminate document normally states that either party can teminate employment without reason or notice is generally a BS document. They provided a reason that was not justified. They did not say we are executing our right per the right to terminate document, they said he was fired for allowing product to be stolen.

I would go to Radio Shack HR and demand a copy of all files on you and see a lawyer.

I called coorporate and they gave me the # to the regional manager for florida. When I called him he was being a total jackass and was not listening to me at all. However, when I mentioned that the three of us were going to get a lawyer he immediately started to pay attention. So he call the district manager that fired me and calls me back the next day. When he called me back he said that I was not being red flagged by Radioshack and that I could go back and apply latter on! Bullsh*t
like I want to go back and work for them!

does anyone know a good lawyer in FL? I need the kind that dont get paid unless they win, since Im still in college, without a job and only a $400 in the bank

FL is a "right to work" state. That means your employer can fire you without a reason and without explanation. If he/she didn't like the color of shirt you wore to work that day, you can be canned. Since FL is a RTW state, you may not have a case. Consult a labor attorney to be sure. Good luck.

If you go to a university, most schools have a free service where lawyers and "law students" work for the university. i know at my school, U of Illinoiis, we have that free service and comes in handy for traffic tickets, insurance violations, etc. Check w/ your school and good luck!
