ask them if they cleaned the carbon out of the passage. the valve is accually good, but its the carbon build up inthe passage that makes the code come on. egr-insufficient flow.

What do they do? The egr valve is fine correct? They just need to drill a bigger hole somewhere? I did a search but can't find it. Is it this:

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152035

For some reason I can't open the file. I have adobe reader. If it is easy to do, imma going to get my friend to do it. Thanks alot!

The dealer sucks. They should know what to do. I mean, shouldn't all the employers know how to fix this problem? So many first gens is having this problem.

it took me a couple of hours, i didn't drill it out all i did was clean all of the carbon out of it. you need to have a special bit to do the drilling, but i figure it took over 100,000 mi before it first happened, so i shoudl be good for another 100k.

I went to the dealership and they tell me that since I am over the 150,000 mile marker that I have to now pay for it. So because I drive more that the average person I can't get a problem fixed that didn't even come on before 175,000 mile! What is that crap? Wasn't it a RECALL? Is there a milleage limit on a recall? Any suggestions? I thought about writing directly to ACURA and seeing if that would go up the chain. What do you think? Do I have a case here? I currently have 196,000 miles on it and it runs like a horse still. The EGR valve kit that they need to install on the car is like $350! I just don't think that is fair. I want to buy another car from that dealership so you would think that they would "help" out and just cover the part since it was recalled. I got my ignition switch covered no problem....and I was at 159,000 miles when that happened. That was crazy though my car used to just shut off when making a turn into an intersection. I almost got into a bad accident because of it. Anyways....what do you think???

The instructions is for the 3.0, I have a 2.2, are the instructions the same?

they'll probably charge you an hour minimum to do that, but then if it turns out to be warrantied work it's free. Maybe 60 bucks

it's an extended warranty, not a recall. so it'll only covered up to a certain mileage.

to those of you that are out of warranty, i still have my extra egr valve kit for the 3.0. so let me know if you want it

How much for the kit? I bought just the EGR valve and replaced it thinking that would do the trick, but it didn't and it ruined the new EGR valve I bought. I need the ENTIRE kit (has the teflon part) as well as the hose. How much for it shipped to Illinios? Also can you send me a pic? thanks!

When the dealer did mine a week ago, I forgot to tell them not to wash my car. And lo and behold, I get my car back and there's all these fucking scratches on it that I know weren't there before I took it in. Not even sure if can do anything since I don't have proof.

bull fucking shit!!! tell them if they still want to charge you, you're going somewhere else. it's an extended warranty coverage, so you dont' suppose to pay shit if you're still under the extended warranty conditions.

tell them you'll go elsewhere if they still want to fuck w/ you.
