googbye to the j30....
my j30 died on me. i have no clue what happened. driving home from atlantic city just got off my flight from vacation about half way to jackson, i hear funny noisies. i said oh crap. pretty soon, the car starts dieing out on me and i see alot of smoke. i pull over into a rest area and the engine is on fire. antifreeze everywhere. now the car is stuck in the mechanics with engine bay damage and no motor. so now im thinking what should i do to the car. put the same motor in or do a different swap. im just worried about how reliable it would be if i put a h22 or something. i drive the car to alot of places. any input on what i should do would be appreciated. also how hard would it be if i do the h22 or h23

you'll need a 2.3 subframe for you to do an h swap, it won't work with the 3.0 subframe. you'd need the motor, tranny, wiring harness from h22, 2.3 axles and hasport mounts amongst other things. its harder in a 3.0

Meh, 2G is too boxy for me, I love the look of the 1G CL too much, at least the exterior, I wish our interior looked like the 2nd gen

I started out with an ice teal 1997 3.0 CL and moved to my current 3.2 CL NBP. I miss the exterior styling of my old cl, but as far as ride comfort and interior the 1g cant hold a candle to the 3.2 imo. Plus my current car could blow the doors off my old 3.0

oh yeah, h axles won't work in the 3.0 hubs, so you need 2.3/2.2 hubs as well or custom driveshafts. if it's a 97 3.0 you minus whale do the rotor over hub while you're at it.

J37 swap is way more intense than the J32

i think ima just run with the j32, minus whale since it shouldnt be tooo hard. my 1st gen would like be a cross breed. 1 and a half gen. but it would be cool to see done. ima look into it. maybe someone from jersey could come help me once i get the motor if i decide to do it.

i like acura
j32 would not just bolt in. it would work easiest, but by no means just bolt in. this is a complicated and expensive swap. thats going to take a lot of work to get going normally. just wanted to make sure you know its not just gonna fit like a glove.becasue thats what people are making it sound like

The block will bolt up to the stock mounts, and will bolt up to the j30 tranny
The wiring is the bitch, not dropping the engine in

if the heads are still ok he could just swap in a j32/j35 short block or something no?
and just to clarify Dblock0405, you meant just replace the j32 and leave your j30 tranny in, not a 6spd swap right?

i mean the j32 with the 6 spd would be dope and i wouldnt use my tranny because my trans slips from 1st to 2nd. but its super hard to find the tranny for the j32. i know this is gunna be difficult to do so i think ima push it aside and make it my project so maybe ill do something crazy. now im just pushing to a tl or a teg. but the cl would never leave. plus i dont really know anybody in my circle thats good with these motors and harnesses.
and u could just call me D or Donald
