Good Price For A Car?
I'm this close to closing a deal with a dealer and wanted to see what you guys thought. It's a 97 acura CL 3.0 with 64000 miles. The asking price was 9988 but I was able to get it down another 500 to 9488. With tax and tags, it's gonna be 10,027. Visually, it was immaculate and the engine seemed pretty well maintained. So do you guys think I got a good deal? Who else owns a 97 CL 3.0?

Failed trannys on the 3.0 are a sizeable minority. We just hear about them alot because peeps take the time to mention it here. There aren't too many "My Tranny Is Running Great" threads, so when we hear about the 3.0 tranny, it's because someone's has failed.
Also, some of us on the board tend to be a little harsher than the average CL owner.
I am NOT trying to minimize the fact that many 3.0CL trannys have problems; however they are not the majority.
mistik: The window regulators (power motors) are a weak spot. When it comes to our tranny, I would install a transmission cooler and change the tranny fluid every 20K miles. The tranny cooler will help extend the life of the tranny. Also, in the cold months, give the car time to warm up before driving.

$9500 sound like a pretty good deal.
