Good Price For A Car?

I'm this close to closing a deal with a dealer and wanted to see what you guys thought. It's a 97 acura CL 3.0 with 64000 miles. The asking price was 9988 but I was able to get it down another 500 to 9488. With tax and tags, it's gonna be 10,027. Visually, it was immaculate and the engine seemed pretty well maintained. So do you guys think I got a good deal? Who else owns a 97 CL 3.0?

Doesn't seem like a bad deal. My 97 2.2 was 9k when i got it. So you should be fairly happy with a 3.0 for 9,500

I have a '97 3.0CL and paid $16,000 in 2001 (w/51K miles).

$9500 sound like a pretty good deal.

How do you guys like the car? Is there anything I should look out for? I'll get some pics up if I decide to get the car.

Failed trannys on the 3.0 are a sizeable minority. We just hear about them alot because peeps take the time to mention it here. There aren't too many "My Tranny Is Running Great" threads, so when we hear about the 3.0 tranny, it's because someone's has failed.

Also, some of us on the board tend to be a little harsher than the average CL owner.

I am NOT trying to minimize the fact that many 3.0CL trannys have problems; however they are not the majority.

mistik: The window regulators (power motors) are a weak spot. When it comes to our tranny, I would install a transmission cooler and change the tranny fluid every 20K miles. The tranny cooler will help extend the life of the tranny. Also, in the cold months, give the car time to warm up before driving.

My alternator went at around 70K. Other than that, the car is awesome. However the passenger's seat shakes at around 60 mph. Other than that it's awesome!
