Getting a tanabe g-power...
I am in the process of ordering a tanabe g-power cat back exhaust for my 98 acura 2.3CL. I beleive it comes with the resonator? Is the resonator removable/any benefits/disadvantages of resonator removal and does anyone know where I can find sound clips of this exhaust with the resonator on and off?

he's talking about the pre silenceer aka resonator, aka that small muffler in front of the main muffler....
benefits or effects of removing it?
i could only think that it would be louder...perhaps better flow...but would a cl require more flow?

Tanabe is notorious for being loud. Dont think removing the resonator would do anything for you other than make the loud system louder. The resonator causes no restriction. Its just a geometry change in the pipe not a baffle set up like a muffler.

I have a magnaflow resonator, it fits in front of the exhaust...its like another muffler one that takes care of most of the sound...well the resonator makes the exhaust decrease in sound the higher u take the rpms to...if u get a cheap one... the resonator could be restrictive and sometimes could defeat the purpose of having an exhaust performance wise...but if u get tanabe dont waste money on getting a resonator...thats just my opinion

Resonators are there to tune out boominess at certain RPMs. I had no resonator on my 2.5RS and it was very loud from 2000-3500 rpm, but rather liveable elsewhere.

hello im a newbie to the board but not to import tuning. I had a tanabe G power for a year and loved it. It was kinda loud to me but i heard its one of the softer ones out there. As far as the resonater, i say keep it on. Its what make ur tanabe sound like "a tanabe" Gives it that G power sound. the muffler helps with the sound also but it works with the resonater. hope u enjoy ur exhaust like i did.
