Getting rid of windshield spots?
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It's those spots on the windshield that show up when sun shines through-they look like little etched dots. What are they and how can they be removed?

sledge hammer and insurance!
"Gee [mr. insurance rep]; I don't know what happened! All of a sudden this bolder came flying out of nowhere and smashed my windshield!
Seriously, though: My Uncle used some type of windshield polish (sorta like rubbing compund) and buffed them out with a high speed buffer. Unfortunately, I don't the name of it.

they are pits in the windshield. Honestly, your best bet would be to just replace it. That's what i'm going to do w/ mine after it gets out of the shop. 170$ the guy comes to me and changes it

shit with my insurance and a local class place i can usually get a new windshield for free.
Advice from a glass shop to make it look "realistic"
use a small center punch to get the initial star, then to make it really run use the end of a 2x4 and give it a few taps with a hammer..just go easy so you don't blow out your windshield
not that i have done this before or anything

hmm...i have that same problem...i was lucky enough to have a small pebble fly off a truck and put a small nick in my windsheild but its hardly noticalbe...so i figure a small rock and a sling shot would do the trick.
