Getting my summer plans together

So I have been researching on exhausts and found out that most of you just get 2.25" or 2.50" Mandrel bent tubing custom done at a shop with a Magnaflow muffler. Well, I'm a DIY guy and saw a Magnaflow Cat-back kit. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=SPCT&id=3641
Would this be better or worse than just getting custom 2.25" Mandrel tubing? I mean, obviously Mandrel bent tubing is better for flow but I really just want a bolt on.
I also want to get a 22" resonator: http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=10435

I have searched and read the n00b guide like a bible. Do I have everything straight?

That resonator won't work with that prefabbed kit, it needs welded in. That cat back appears to already have a resonator on it anyway. Plus it is mandrel bent, personally I pieced together my exhaust parts and am having a shop bend my piping but this kit is a good find, though it's pretty expensive

Ah, ok. Thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking of the Greddy SP2 kit but I like the sound of Magnaflow better. The SP2 was more expensive too.

ebay = win.
Just found the same thing for $400!
I think someone else were looking for a bolt on kit if I am not mistaken. This looks like it's it.

The n00b guide says nothing about 3.0 or 2.X.
dose it matter?

I'm pretty sure it will but then I'd have dual exhaust which isn't bad but I'd have to mod my bumper accordingly
But anyone know for sure?

i dont think engine size matters too much. i bought mine from magnaflow and love it. you dont need to get the the dual exhaust unless you want to. i think theres only certain cls that can pull that off.

3.0. Either kit would work like the n00b guide says right?

Yeah but are you really gonna get much of a tone difference paying 400 bucks for that kit? I only paid 125 for my muffler installed..has a nice tone IMO but thats just me. If i were you id run it by a local muffler shop and ask some questions there before id drop 400 into that set-up and still have to put it on yourself and possibly mod it up..=/ Good luck either way !

So neither of the kits will work? and I thought the muffler was just for show and not sound?

um, come stand by my car and let me punch it and tell me if theres sound. the resonator your looking at getting kills the sound somewhat.

edit: its not a matter of the kit working, just ridiculous to spend that much on a setup that you have to install and modify cause it might not line up. just its too much for what its worth.

Ohh ok. I thought either of them will just bolt up since were built on an accord.
So just buy a Magnaflow muffler? Someone mentioned that they are just for looks and don't really change the tone.

No you're misunderstanding, just putting a muffler on with stock piping will change the tone, but it's also more for looks because the piping isn't changed

I say u go with that original magnaflow kit, i got something like that and my car roars even with the resinator. Having just a magnaflow muffler with stock piping is nothing compared to having full custom 2.5 piping, u can also feel it more on the throttle.

he's selling it^^

and i'm pretty sure my piping is already 2.5 stock unless it was redone in the past and i have a magnaflow muffler. its heard when punched, quite for the most part when not on. We're not saying you even HAVE to get magnaflow. just an option. get whatever you like.

Naw, I bought that back when I wanted the whole gold trim/woodgrain theme if some of you remember. Then I decided to get rid of the woodgrain (center piece, steering wheel cover) and blackout the chrome exterior and am selling that woodgrain center piece for '97ers.

2.5 is stock! Ohhhhh ok, it is all making sense now!

I do love the magnaflow design and sound tho. I'll prob just go with a magnaflow muffler then. Jeez, I love how you guys have me spend more money on my car yet, help me save some too!

uhh.. im pretty sure my mufflers inlet pipe opening was like 2.5 and i told the mechanic mine was 2.25 and he measured it and said it was 2.5 so itd work. so i have no idea. maybe i just suck at remembering(which could be it) its probably 2.25. im most likely wrong.

So I guess it would be pointless to get the magnaflow exhaust system that is that same pipeing diameter as what I have on now. I guess I'll just replace the muffler. It looks kinda nasty anyway.

Good luck on that intake. That has got to me the most complicated mod I've done so far...
and I'm still not finished!

It would be easier if people weren't such dumbasses and would send me the right intake. I remember the first time I tried to force install the intake it took me hours just to find out the it was for some old Nissan. It was kinda refreshing to find out that it wasn't me tho.

lol i personally am over that let yourself be heard phase with an exhaust that might drone at highway speeds. I want a low noise making exhaust that will only really scream when i mash the gas. I drive too many highway miles to constantly be hearing "BBRRRRRRRRRRR" or "WWWHHAAAAAAAAAA" from my exhaust . I need the quiet so i can hear my music only
