so my new alternator should be here on the 13th. can't wait how difficult would it be to install, or is this strictly a shop job?

 

You can do it. Very simple with hand tools.

Recently my car was assesed as the alternator needing to be replaced. It was running fine, just really loud, with a high pitched sound. My question is: is an alternator an alternator? Or are there better ones for the 3.0 CL then the factory option?

 

Installation was pretty easy. The most difficult piece was removing the radiator shroud. The fit was tight, getting the alternator in place (without damaging the radiator fins).

I'm very pleased with the 180 amp alternator that I got from eBay. Took care of my power drain problems, and has worked flawlessly.

 

thanks for the replies. dustbuster, did you get yours from some dude "alterstart"? that's the one i got from ebay. 180 amps, cost about 200. im gonna do the install on saturday. did you upgrade your wiring too? it was recommended that i use 4 gauge.

 

buddha, yes there are better than stock alternators. ebay, type in acura, alternator. check it out
