generic short ram?

It's probably been discussed before but I was looking around for short ram intakes and I could only find AEM ones and no generic ones that i could slap a better filter on. Does anyone know of any generic short rams? Also with short ram, how much less likely is it for water to mess it up? I was thinking about CAI but i don't wanna mess up my engine w/o a bypass valve. Most importantly, is the sound the same?

Yeah it will sound pretty much the same. Ive had a generic, aem, and tried my friends weapon R and Ractive and they all pretty much sounded the same. I have a generic Short Ram that I only used for about 3 weeks that I will sell you pretty cheap. I paid $65 and Ill sell it for say....$30.

I think a lot of us here have used short rams 1st, and then switched over to the CAI..........I wasted over $150 for my short ram and now I prob won't even get shit for it..........If you really want a short ram find one for cheap $30 is cheap because you'll get sick of it after a couple of months.

BTW theres no chance in hell that water will get in your engine with a short ram.........and if you are that paranoid about getting a CAI then spend the extra $35-40 on the bypass valve.

Shit is easy to install. Especially the short ram. Probably a 30 min or less job.

Every one needs rice. It should be part of your daily caloric intake.

agreed so the question still unanswered here is this:
CAI - up to 8HP (right?)
Short Ram - up to 8HP (right?)

the sound is the same, right?

don't have to worry about water w/short ram

am i along the right lines of thought?

CAI produces more HP because it is "cold air." HP figures vary according to your filter. Not sure about sound...I went straight for the cold air and never dealt with the short ram.

You should just get a CAI. I had a short ram for a day. The next day i went out to my local shop and bought myself a pipe, and turned that bitch into a CAI. Cost me $25 for that stupid pipe, but i spent $100 total. To me, the short ram sounded louder because the filter was closer, but that could be me.

The CAI is just better..it supplies colder air to the car..just get the CAI and don't bother with the short ram..trust me you'll love the CAI once you put it in your car..

I don't think there are generic bypass valves...I think AEM makes the only bypass valves..
