Gear Shift will not MOVE from PARK
I have to use the shift lock to put it in neutral and then start it, otherwise the shifter will not move from park! :wtf: And whenever I put it back in park, it gets stuck there
I have a 97 3.0..........what's wrong?

Bad sensor for the brake?
As you know, you have to have your foot on the brake to move it from park, so perhaps that sensor has gone bad.

Bastard......
I replaced the factory air box and pulled off the old neons from before I even bought the car today.....problem happened after that.......could I have blown something or disconnected something? I finally get someone interested in the car, and this bullshit happens

Brake sensor can do that like Ken said. If it goes out, and the safety switch is not released, then you wont be able to get the car out of park unless you stick your key in the release hole next to the shifter.
Sometimes blowing a fuse can cause the same problem, so check them all out. Especially any related to the brake lights/tail lights.

This happened to me the other day, but is working fine now. I would just disconnect the lock so you don't need to apply the brake before shifting.

I've had that happen once or twice, no fuse, no bad switch, had to turn the engine off, then start it again... shifted fine after that. Funny, my old Teg used to not know it was in park when the weather turned cold.
