Gas Mileage

Hi All,

Just wondering about the gas mileage for a 1st gen 2.3L Auto...

It seems to me that we don't get that much.

My 93 Accord gets about 300 miles on about 13-14 gallons (mostly HW miles), and the Acura gets about 250 miles on the same (mostly city miles). I know there's a difference between highway and city driving, but I didn't know it was that much... just figured I'd get better mileage with the newer car.

Hows your gas mileage? Also what is the farthest you've gone on a full tank???

But i have gone over 400 on a tank on the rare occasion i dont speed. But generally my MPG are around 30 on the interstate and low 20's in town.

Mrateb,
how do you drive? agressive? step on the gas hard often?
that tends to affect your gas mileage. is your car properly tuned?

it's usually mixed driving for us, but mostly highway.
on a full tank, it's usually around 340-360 miles.

it's a big improvement over my old nissan altima. i was lucky to get 220 miles with that POS. and that's highway driving!

Got a 99 2.3 which gets in the mid thirties in mixed driving. I've gotten as high as 43.7 on the road; I had a tail wind. On trips at altitudes of 4K plus it gets 39 to 40 MPG running at 75MPH.

Reduction in weight will always help....In my 5 speed I'm constantly averaging about 350 miles in normal city driving (and that's including several 5000rpms). On long distance drives i typically average roughly 420-430 to the tank..however, that's also including an average speed of about 80-90mph.....

My car's an auto, and I don't drive too aggressively... but it is mostly all city driving, so stop & go... but after hearing what you guys are getting I think my car needs a tune-up, and maybe might change the air filter as well... any other suggestions?

I have driven to Jersey (1000 mile trip) on just over two tanks with my 97 2.2 five speed (221,000 miles). When i say just over two i mean i probably could have made it on two but i hate to run it with low gas so i got close to 500 a tank but it was all highway driving with a very constant speed and no stopping

Just checked my records and I LIED! It was 43.3 and it happened on May 17 2000 on a trip from Alamogordo NM to Amarillo TX. Like I said I had a tail wind of approximately 40 MPH. Talk about a quiet ride, like crusing at 35.

PS The best I've ever gotten.

When my car was stock besides the intake I got 500 on a tank but this was on a bet (which I won) and I never let the RPMs get above 3000 and I put the clutch in and coasted as much as possible, this was however city driving so it makes it that much more impressive, but I guess the situation wouldnt be possible on the highway unless I had different gear ratios. Now I am LUCKY to get 300 per tank and then is when I am running a fairly lean a/f. I get a little over 200 in the summer when I run rich and use the N20. So in other words my gas mileage sucks in general.

You'd be lucky to find a gas station with gas less than 2 bucks a gallon here

in auto d3 prevents shifting into overdrive for towing.

i get shitty mileage....like 16 or so, because im driving in the fucking frezing 5 minute ride to school and back in stop and go.

cant blame the car though, its the weather/distance/stop/go
