Fuel efficiency questions

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I recently purchased a 1998 acura cl 3.0 and am shocked by the amount of gas my baby guzzlers.

Right now I'm doing about 4km per liter or about 9 miles per gallon. I searched the forum before joining and sea foamed the gas a couple of weeks ago but consumption hasn't changed. I understand that I am using winter gas, but I drive very chill. I am just drivingin the city but ddon't rev the car high or speed. Had a tune up about a week ago.

What have you fellow cl owners done to improve fuel efficiency? I live in Montreal Canada and am willing to spend money on the car if it means improving efficiency.

Try a new fuel-pump? I had mechanics and oil changes and buddies look at my car and just randomly replaced it eventually. It was night and day!

keep tire pressure around 35psi, I use Lucas fuel treatment in the gas, clean air filter. If you have any check engine light then have that problem fixed since that also messes with the fuel consumption. Also even crappy gas can burn faster. I understand you may need to use a higher octane but that winter gas maybe the problem. Try different gas stations. I will always pay the extra 5 cents for better quality gas than the crappy stuff with water some gas stations use.

Improve the air intake system, replace the fuel filter.

When you did the tune up, did you just do spark plugs, or did you replace the cap and wires?

I had a 1999 CL back in 2003 and I remember I guzzled gas faster than my 2003 Accord that I had before. But part of it was 4 cyl vs V6. I would try the recommendations of the others to see if it helps any. Good luck.

That's pretty good. I would say I get about the same as I do mostly highway driving. My Altima got 450 miles to the tank...I miss the fuel economy of that car. This TL hits half tank faster than I can blink!

My 4runner eats gas too, but it actually gets good mileage for how big it is
