First Time "CL-er"

Hey Acura lovers,

I'm looking at purchasing a 1999 CL 3.0 with auto transmission and 74K mi. The car is in bangin' condition and drives pretty smoothly. I did notice that the transmission seems to hold on a little too long and shift a little rougher than most. It's not really bad but it was noticeable to me. Do you think this is a sign that the tranny is about to peter out? I don't want to buy something and then have to drop $2500 into a new transmission.

Also, is there no chirp/beep/horn sound when you lock the car with keyless entry?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

i would take it to a shop you trust and have them give you an opinion on the tranny

you can turn the chirp on and off by holding the Lock and Option buttons.
i think you can only change it when the car is unlocked, or at least that's what mine seems like.

Dont buy it, the guy is prolly selling it because he knows the tranny is done.
Get a warrantee thats will cover it, I wouldnt even trust a mechanic if its doesnt go now, it will go at some point soon.

If you do buy it the chirp is east to turn on/off.

if i drive for a while really stomping on it, and then i go back to driving normally, it shifts really erratically for a while and then goes back to normal

did that make sense?

Thanks for the responses .. I'm a new member and I'm surprised at how willing people are to help. I didn't end up buying the car after all because the asshole had "or best offer" in his ad but refused to come down a single dollar on the price. Then he tells me that "retail price is over $12K" - but retail is what a dealer would charge. He was just blowing smoke up my ass so I walked away. Thanks anyways, crew..

Cheers-
