Ohh, and just for the fun of it... 3.0>2.x
Nice !! Like to see the higher mileage!! I think five times/year is a little excessive, but I don't know your average annual mileage. Hey. it comes down to whatever you feel most comfortable with. I do mine maybe 2-3 times per year, but I think it's closer to two. I essentially have them check the tranny fluid at EVERY oil change. Sludgy tranny fluid scares me.

When I bought my car, I essentially had enough cash for one of two things - either the 2.3 with leather, or the 3.0 with cloth. After years of 4 cylinder Pontiacs, I said the hell with leather and took the 3.0. Cloth is like a dying breed on a car like that - I just love it!

Glad to hear your lovin the 3.0.

It is a little excessive, I change it about every 3 months. But I drive a ton, and the transmission is on its last leg. Im about 6 months away from being able to buy a new car. Im kinda sad too. Every morning I walk out and kinda feel bad knowing that Im getting rid of it soon.

What makes you think it's on it's last leg?

I can just tell. When I go from park to reverse I have to wait at least 20 seconds before I can let my foot off the brake. It will take a good 10-15 seconds to POP into gear. Same goes for reverse to drive. If I throw it in R and imeadiately start to back up it will jerk violently.

I just cant afford to not baby-sit the transmission.

Acura 3.0CL Pics

Here are some pics of my CL. Sounds like the cloth interior isn't very common...the cloth is a very smooth fabric - not like the rough crap from the '80s and early '90s.....

Please excuse the white towel improv for a center armrest - my armrest broke and am looking for a replacement. Also, enjoy the worn hole in my original floormats. Lastly, those aren't rips in the rear seatback - they're lines from carseats (gotta just smooth those out).

Leather IMO can look crappy after years of use, unless it's taken care of. The cloth after a quick shampooing looks brand new every time, although I do agree that leather, if taken care of properly, looks very good. But the main issue was back in '97 I had never had leather before, so i figured I couldn't miss something I'd never had - thus I got the 3.0 versus the 2.3. The arm rest itself cracked after 10 years of leaning on it. AcuraOEMParts wants IIRC $180 for the entire center console, including the armrest (they don't sell the armrest by itself). I'd like to find someone parting out a dark colored CL so I can snag one that's still in good shape.

yeah I know my driver seat is all torn on the vynyl parts, didnt help that the last driver was on the overweight side of things, thats why ive got the Recaro sitting in reserve , the Passenger seat and the back seats are all perfect though, especially the back seats, since theres rarely anyone back there to mess with the periodic leather treatments I dabble on there theyre smooth and good

I dont see why they dont sell the armrest piece on its own, I mean on mine its clearly just secured on there by screws as a SEPARATE piece....... meh... OEM parts for ya

oh and another reason I prefer leather over cloth is that... "Oh shit I spilled some coffee on the seat", with leather itll wipe right off, or get absorbed into your pants , cloth, it more or less sticks if you dont get to it right away, leather will just get sticky, but that sticiness just wipes right off

My mistake - they do sell the armrest by itself - but it's still $100 on the AcuraOEMParts site. I may just have to bite the bullet on this one - but I'm gonna wait to see how the install of my left and right rear wheel speed sensors goes first.

97 2.2 171k and counting on the original tranny although it has been slipping for the past 6 or so years and the car recently developed a really bad motor shake (bad mounts?) but not a uncommon problem from what Ive noticed after riding in other 150K+ mileage Hondas.
