Finally, something that might work.

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola
executive It came from one of his engineer buddies
who retired from Halliburton. It's worth your
consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit
close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might
go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We
need to take some intelligent, united action.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes
MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain
day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
The oil companies just laughed at that because they
knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by
refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience
to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at
about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently
$2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the
oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us
to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at
$1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to
teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not
sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each
day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we
are going to see the price of gas come down is if we
hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their
gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How?

Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop
buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if
we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T
purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies
(which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not
selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their
prices. If they reduce their prices, the other
companies will have to follow suit. But to have an
impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon
and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now,
don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and
I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of
people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us
send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and
those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =
3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches
the sixth group of people, we will have reached over
THREE MILLION consumers.

If those three million get excited and pass this on to
ten friends each, then 30 million people will have
been contacted! If it goes one level further, you
guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million
and all you have to do is send this to 10 people....
Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician.
But I am . so trust me on this one.) :-)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends

this
e-mail out to ten more people within one day of
receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be
contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you
didn't think you and I had that much potential, did
you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message
on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL
THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP
THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK
I don't buy gas from Mobile/EXXON, so whatever. But this plan sounds like it'll work. Let's give it a shot.:rippedoff

I've seen that on a couple other boards. Maybe enough people will do it and get these prices down. I paid $2.89 today, it's crazy!

i didn't even read it. Want to change things? Support legislation for higher gas taxes and buy a 1.0 litre car or a hybrid.

... so no you don't want to change things do you?

You are all retarded in 30 dimensions if you believe this will work.

What happens if you succeed in buying from the smaller producers? THEY RUN OUT OF GAS.
So what do they do? Turn around and buy more from ExxonMobile or BP to cover at an additional cost.

Simple economics, Price = supply and demand. The supply is only gonna go down, but is relatively stable at the moment. This idea will only increase prices.

I'm with Gaujo, REDUCE CONSUMPTION.

Exxon is the best/cheapest gas I can get...why would I stop? Also, why would gas companies sell fuel at a loss? The main factor in the price of gasoline is the price of crude oil. This idea is as rediculous as the rest of them. What we need to do is get that Alaskan pipeline going, stop driving so many SUVs, and increase use of small cars, hybrid cars, and flex fuel cars. Other countries (i.e. China and India) are not going to decrease their demand for oil at any time in the near future, and it is this that is largely responsible for high gasoline prices.

Too many SUV's and consumption

Gas companies only make like 8 cents profit on a gallon of gas, at least half the price of gas goes to taxes

i saw this on CNN today....they were saying that some state (remember seeing texas, ny, ca and a few other on the map) these state might be taking the gas taxes off. that mean gas will be $.20 cheaper....but because gas prices are still gonna go up...we probably wont even noticed the reduce price.

There is not point in complaining about gas prices. I mean ya, it sucks. But its not like your gonna stop driving. They could charge 10 bucks a gallon and people are still gonna drive. The government & oil companies have the entire worlds population by the balls.

The only way to reduce gas prices is an alternative fuel.

Good idea on the surface I suppose. But any plan that does not actually reduce consumtion of gasoline will not have a significant effect on the price of gasoline. Examples of effective measures that reduce consumtion are carpooling, using public transportation, and riding a bike or walking for short trips. The most basic of economic principals is that price is set by demand.

If everyone started pushing for public transportation accross the country and cut consumption by say 30% over the next year it would make the oil sellers want to lower prices, so they could keep their foothold in our economy. They watch the numbers extremely closely and they will keep the prices as high as we are willing to pay without buying less, so right below the point where an increase would make us significantly reduce our consumption. If they though you wouldn't change your driving habits at $10 a gallon, thats exactly what they would charge tomorrow.

Bottom line is instead of saying that these prices aren't acceptable, act like it by buying less gas.

Its up to $3.09 in IL now and rising. Makes me glad i got rid of my GSX because i woulda been dying with premium. Thats a better idea is for people to take public transportation but then again that wont happen. Guess all we can do is bitch and bitch but it never gets us anywhere. Luckily I take the train to work and drive only on weekends which is nice to fill up every 2 weeks.

+1 for metra

There are a couple places here that sell it. Thats because most of the new GM products will burn that and regular gas. Which leads me to believe that most cars will burn it, but ethenol burns hotter than regular gas and the gaskets and shit wont last as long.

With the right mods, our cars could burn it.

And man, that shit is CHEAP. I've seen it sold for as little as $0.79 a gollon. Those are Jimmy Carter prices.

Shoot, I wish we could have Bill Clinton prices again, $0.98 - $1.20 a gallon was the shit back in the day. Man, I never cared how many miles I drove in those days.

Now, shit, I don't even load the bike up to go to the lake anymore. It pains me to even go to the city for business.

Bush and Big Oil can SUCK on something other than my paycheck, those BASTARDS!.

Just because he is president does not mean he can change the price. There is a lot associated with the rising gas prices. Were still at war, someone has to pay for all the bombs being dropped + the price it is going to cost to rebuild what we have bombed.
Is he doing everything in his power to lower the prices...No... But get used to it cuz nothing is gonna change till he is out of the office.
