Finally Registered

My name is Jake. I Finally registered as a member, woohoo. I have been visiting this forum daily for the last 2 months. You guys are just great. I would like to share with you some pictures of my CL. and I have some questions that i couldn't really find definate answers to them.

The link to my ride is : http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2964331

Now i really want make some major modfications to the Engine, but i read so many discussions here about engines that confused that hell out of me. What is the best engine to swap? h22a4? what kind of turbo goes with it for the best results? what additional parts do i need to do the swap?
I also want to put a short shifter but i couldn't find any for a CL, but i have seen pictures here of CL's with short shifters. Any ideas?

Also there are some items on eBay that i though maybe its a good idea with you guys before i go ahead and buy them :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...238561338&rd=1

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWA:VRI

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA:IT&ih=001

and Finally:

http://www.prostreetonline.com/pnsku/v10-100.asp#

I would really appreciate any help.

you guys ROCK

thanks

as far as the short shifter goes, the prelude shifter works as one, it is a lot short, but its not gonna actually reduce the throw, just the shift nob length

PSPEC short shifter is good stuff, i have one. makes the throws shorter for sure.

i see in your cardomain page you have headers and an intake. aside from a VFAC and an upgraded cam and an exhaust, thats about it for our engine.

if you do the H22 swap.... search first.... a billion threads on it

Thanks man,, I already have an exhaust .
I'm not sure what a VFAC is.
I'm considering the H22a4 swap seriously, I'm just waiting to get done with finals at school and start working on it.

VFAC basically plugs in and lets you adjust when vtec kicks in, also can tune a/f but for our tiny SOHC engine, it's not a great bang for buck imho.

i've been considering the h22 swap as well if my wrx falls through

Car looks pretty good, nice and clean. As everyone else said, dont buy any of that ebay crap, none of it works. I'd say don't buy any more performance parts till u can get your swap, cuz it'll be a waste of money if you do. Well anything besides exhaust. VAFC = Vtec, Air and Fuel Controller. It will help with your H22 way more than ur F22.

The neo seems to be overkill to me lol. Plus i think the VAFC II looks better. And its cheaper. To each their own though.

When i was shopping for them, the neo was 300 and the vafc2 was 170. I guess you're talking about retail?

Also, the forbidden motorsports short shifter for a 94-97 accord will fit in the CL. That and the PSPEC shortshifter.

1) VAFC is a waste of money. I have one in my lude. I tried playing with it, it made the car slugish and vtec was weak. the menu is unintuitive. i'd say it's a gimmick more than anything...looks nice on your dash.

2) Forget swapping the h22a4. It's the USDM 5th gen prelude motor. Due to immobilizers in all 5th gen ludes, you'll need to get a new key programmed at the dealer. Plus the engine itself is expesnsive since its coming out of ludes sold in the US. go for a JDM H22a, from a reputeable seller.

The H22a1 and the H22a are the USDM and JDM, respectively, H22's that are usually swapped in

supposedly the forbidden motorsports one is the best on the market because it has 3 adjustable settings and you can abuse it pretty badly, but then again there are people who swear by their PSPEC shifter. I guess its about personal preference. I like the choice of 3 settings so i'd go w/forbidden if i ever got 1

Which version VAFC do you have? I know people who have used it and say that it was effective. Then again they've been dealing w/them for years and know how to tune them to their liking.

vafc's are meant to be used with a tune, and to accent engine mods, what do you have to the lude engine?
