fair price?

a local acura dealer (gary force acura) (nashville) quoted me

143 for the front pads
153 for the rear pads

(to change them)

is this a fair price or should i go to a local shop?

$300 seems steep for pads & install........I'd look around for less than half that

Python2121 - If you choose to go to an Acura dealer, you'll loose your manhood. Get your pads installed somewhere else like pepboys. You'll save alot of money.

I on the other hand let my family's mechanic do it for me, he charges $40.00.

Changing pads is pretty easy. I've done it myself, took me 30 minutes for the front, 30 for the back.

if it were for rotors, that price might be more fitting, but pads are pretty easy

No doubt about it, you gonna get fucked at the smacura dealer. Go to Autozone or O'reilly's and get some ceramic pads. Then, if you got a good set of tools, slap those biatches on. But don't put them on backwards. hahahahah (No someone who did that.) Pretty fucked up rotors after that. Oh well glad it wasn't my shit. Oh, your calipers might be a little tight, get some wd40 or rust-out. makes the bolts come out easier. Air tools, even better.

Changing pads is easy. Just remove the wheel, then there's 2 bolts per caliper I think. Those are 12mm I think. Remove those, remove caliper, install new pads, and I think that's it. It's really easy...don't know if I forgot anything.
