F22 or F20B build

Hello all,
Pretty new to aczine just wanted to get some ideas on a possible build.
I own an acura cl 2.2 the year is 97. It has the s.o.h.c F22B motor as most of you know, but I'm torn between keeping my F22 or dropping the F20B from the 94-97 accord SIR-T. Ive done research on both motors and the F20 seems to be a better motor with more horse and higher redline, but I've yet to really see any builds on this motor ( sleeved, pistons etc) but there have been plenty of builds recorded of the F22 motor. Anybody have any information or knowledge/experience with the 2. Any info would help, thank you

Welcome to AZ!!

I'm going to move this to the Acura CL section as you will get many more responses (and better responses) there. Car Talk is more for general discussion and for cars not covered by one of our model specific sections.

Good luck with the build!!

Lots of info here:
http://honda-tech.com/guide-and-review/f20b.html
As far as the motor build itself goes.

There are a few guys on here that have F20B swaps, I tried finding specific info on how it relates to our CLs and it's hard to get straight answers. Any info from the Accord swaps, (of which there are many), should relate and hopefully the more experienced guys can help you out. Good luck and keep us posted!! I personally would like to see how it goes, as I was contemplating the same move to an F20B. Except I want the full swap, cause it comes with the 5m/t w/ LSD, axles, harness and ECU.

I think more people choose to just go H22 over the F20B because of the lack of torque in the F20, and with how heavy our cars are you need all the torque you can get. I think that's generally the reason people stay away from it on CL's anyway..

. It also all depends what you're looking for and looking to do with the car. I chose my engine cuz it had more torque available. Both the F22 and F20B have iron sleeves which makes them good for boost and a little easier to do high compression/nitrous builds, but the DOHC of the F20B provides a greater range of power and more potential for those with lesser experience in engine work. Also depends on what your budget is too. There's a lot to think about before you make a choice, how far are you willing to go?

Well, I have the money for the full swap and install and getting paid every week doesn't hurt either. I do plan on boosting it because I've also heard the sleeving takes to boost better than H series motors, but the F20B motor also doesn't have internal oil sprayers as to where the H series does. But regardless I do want the H22 transmission to shorten gear ratio because the F series is way too long. But like I stated earlier I love mid range game but more horse couldn't hurt right?

If you're going for boost, what kind of numbers are you trying to achieve? F22B's have been known to get a good 300hp with the right boost setup, supporting mods and tune.

You could compensate for mid range power with the right cams, i believe. Could be wrong tho

I'm trying to achieve around 350 or so. But I don't think torque is an issue cus I was going to bore to 2.2 if I decide to drop the F20. I want power but its also going to be driven fairly often so reliability is key as well.
