Engine Stallin....any Ideas

Hey all....just seeing if anyone has any experience with this...

About 2 weeks ago, i was at PepBoys. I go to turn on the ride and the engine fires up but then "kinda like there wasn't enought gas in it" the engine sputters and shuts off 2-3 seconds later....tried it 2-3 more times and the same shit. So then I try a fourth time and then slam on the accelerator....when i let go it still sputtering but i shift it into drive and it stays on.
Same shit has happened 5-6 times since and everytime i gotta do the step on accel n shift thing or it keeps dying. I had a full tank of gas, new s.plugs, s.plug wires and a distributor cap ( cuz there was oil in it). Also had a recent oil change. Battery is brand new too. Took it to the stealership and it freakin wouldn't happen there but as soon as I get back home....it freakin happens. It does however only do this intermittently and esp. after i have parked on an incline. (nl starts in between and drives great once it gets started)
Any ideas?

thanks for ur input....

otherwise...it maybe time to the ride

Pittsburgh PA in tha house! What part of the burgh you in? Just wonderin seen a few CL's around here.

Sounds like a loose battery terminal, or corroded battery clamp or terminal, otherwise your fuel pump may be startin to fritz

EDIT: Just read the part about incline, sounds like your fuel pump bro

Could be fuel pump like black suggested, but this happened to me 2 summers ago and I couldn't figure it out, so changed battery, plugs, cap and rotor, wires, and fuel filter. Never happened again.

I would replace the fuel filter before replacing the fuel pump,... a lot cheaper and easier.

It does appear to be a fuel delivery problem, only way to be sure is to check fuel pressure when problem is present.

good luck

theres oil in the dizzy cap cause of a bad seal.. you should replace it. your new cap could be fowled. but other than that i would start with the fuel filter. check the fuel pressure before your start it..

If problem happens always w/ engine fully warm, a failing O2 sensor could be the problem.

good luck

a faulty o2 sensor's limp mode is an extremly rich fuel mixture, and the car will run less efficient but it will not surge. in fact besides the bad gas milage and a cel you wont notice a bad o2 sensor.

I have the same exact problem!!!! It only happens if I try to restart the car after letting it sit for 10-15 mins. Never if the car sat long enough (more than an hour)
I did replace the fuel filter but that did not help at all.
I vaguely remember reading somewhere about vapor forming in the lines or something like that which cause this problem.
If it was caused by the fuel system, why doesn't it do it all the time? Any ideas guys?

Fuel injected cars rarely suffer from vapor lock since the fuel rail is supplied w/ excess fresh fuel, some of which returns to the fuel tank via the fuel pressure regulator. It's possible but not likely.

A leaking fuel injector can cause hard starts on a warm engine. While engine is shut down for 10-15 minutes. This gives enough time for fuel to leak by the injector and flood the engine creating a hard start. If you restart quickly, there's not enough time for leakage to cause the problem, and if you restart after a long shutdown, the leaked fuel has time to evaporate and clear. A check if this is the problem is to restart using a flooded engine procedure from carbuerated cars; hold the throttle wide open and start the engine. If this allows an easier start, then flooding is very likely the problem.

Many Accords and Acuras have suffered from Main Fuel Relay problems which can cause intermittent no-start. This usually happens after the car has been parked in the hot sun and start is attempted. A new MFR or cleaning/resoldering all the connections on the relay circuit board will fix this problem. Not clear if this applicable to your problem.

good luck
