Electrical Problem

Help, I've got a 97 3.0 Premium, It's got about 80,000 Km on it and I just changed my battery about 3 weeks ago, when the car had problems starting. Initially after I changed the battery there were no problems but tonight while I was out driving all my interior lights and my headlights started to get really dim. The engine is also making a wheezing kinda sound. The ABS light turned on and all my gauges dimed down and the needles started to move erraticly.(I was doing a constant speed of about 80 and my tach/speedo kept on bottoming out at zero and bouncing back to about 100/5000 rpm) I pulled over and stopped the car. The car didn't start the first time, I waited about a minute or so and it started alright but the interior gauges/radio/temp were really dim.BTW I turned off the climate control/heated seats/mirrors/ and dimmed the console brightness and my needles started to work again. The only mods I've done to my car were to add some PIAA Fogs, removed the resonator (irrelevant in all likelyhood) and use the Silvania Cool Blue lights. Both the changes in the fog lamps and head lamps were done about 6 months ago. This was the first time that this problem occured. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?
Sorry bout the long post

Yeah, almost 100% it's the alternator. I have a 1997 3.0CL as well, and had to replace the alternator this summer. Luckily it was under warranty. I also had to replace the engine pulleys, they were making a strange noise. (under warranty as well).

Hope this helps.

4 "like minds" can't be wrong! Sounds like you need a new alternator! If you have a warranty through Acura, they should replace it gratis! Good luck!

I agree tahts it sound like alternator.. if the battery you changfed was dead... . it was dead probably due to same reason, and with new battery its having problems holding the boost.... if its not the alt. what size battery you get? you might have gotten a battery to small or large for the car!

SAME THING HAPPEND TO ME.

Get a new alternator at a junk yard. Or if your warranty covers it.

There are some alternaters on ebay for our car. Do a search for "Acura Cl", they will come up. Does sound like an alternater problem.
