yesteerday after getting out of work my Malfunction Light (CHeck Engine Light) came on. I first checked fuel cap and everything was fine. Even after 3 trips the light is still there. Today I shorted it and got Error 86 (Engine Coolant Temp Circuit Range/Performance)

I then tried resetting it by pulliong the 7.5 fuse (radio backup...) as I read on this forum. That did nothing, should it maybe be the 15 ECU fuse? Can I pull that one to reset it?

ANyways what exactly does this error mean? It has been VERY VERY cold here in Winn ipeg the last two days. Its 9am and its -40C with the windchill and was close to -45C yesterday. Could the temperature be causing this type of error?

 

yeah prolly especially if it has to do with teh coolant TEMP circuit

 

My mechanic said the same thing... but how I get the light to go away? My mechanic says u cant reset it without the computer. Is that true?

 

if you take it to like pep boys csk (a parts store) you can use a diagnostic test to clear the code i'm pretty sure.. good luck eh!!!! eh eh eh

 

disconnect the battery for 15 min and it will go away.

 

Its just a light. Stay inside and try not to freeze. Then move further south when your country thaws out.
