it should just be even with the 2nd hole...i think, stress think, we use 4.5 quarts. This is including what ever you already put in the oil fliter.

Right, as long as the oil is between the 2 "holes" you're ok.

However, the best situation is to have the oil even with the top "hole".

the bottom hole is the minimum you should have the oil at. the top hole is maximum or it means you engine is hot. have it somewhere in the middle because oil expands when it heats and contracts when it's cold. putting it in the middle lets your oil have space to expand and contract. if you fill it up to the second hole, your oil pan will be over filled and your car will feel slugish.

you have way too much oil in it. i dunno what happens other then the "sluggish" issue, which i'm not sure about. our 3.0 takes 4.6 quarts. so i just put 5 quarts in it. i don't think that would be a problem...

2 inches over the second hole? does not seem possible unless you have like 8-10 quarts in there. cuz it takes 5 just to get it to the second hole, (about an inch up the dip stick) who did your last oil change?

did you wipe the dipstick off and then put it back in to test? if you just pulled it straight out and looked at it the oil could be two inches over the dot...
