I have, didn't go as well as it does in a RWD car, also gave me some nice curb rash

AE86's are the way to go though

pull the parking brake while turning

you'll put flat spots on your tires, but you drift

I was at a friends house, I would have stoped to talk but I had to go pick up a motorcycle so I was in a hurry.

you dont need power to drift, that is why the hachi is used. The hachi is the most predictable and common drifter over there for a a reason....you just need your car set up right. 90% of the people over here can just fishtail there car. even at these drift events you usually wont find more than a half dozen people doing it well.

its alot easier to drift with more power so you dont have to ebrake whip the steering wheel. you can just pop the clutch and when you beging to turn and the rear will slid out nicely. i found it alot hard to drift with a hachi cause you have to wot most of the time. i think silvia's are more common the hachi's. every drift event we havd here brought down atleast 2 silvia from japan and never a hachi

True

Its true. Nopi wit their foam parties and loser stuff like that just has a bunch of jdm and drifter cars now. Its trendy, its hip, best buy sells the DVDs. It just gets really old when every teenager and his sister can drift because they bought a 240 and read import tuner. These are the same people that just sold off their civic because people gave them shit. They have no pride in what they drive, they just follow trends. I wish this would fizzle out like those tamagotchi things and pogs and Magic cards and all that. But instead mainstream things likefast and furiuos just bring a bunch of dumbasses in that want to be cool because that is what is hip. And what irks me more is the people who try and drift FWD cars. The only people you see doing it right here stateside, is drift squad.

Regardless if something is mainstream or not...Drifting takes skill, unlike accerlerating in a straight line.

"when every teenager and his sister can drift because they bought a 240 and read import tuner."

You obviously have no idea about drifting what so ever. There's a difference between what I would consider drifting (controlled) and just swinging your rear out (not controlled).

I will agree that FWD drifting is ghey. E-brake drifting is ghey. Tray sliding is ghey.

But Adam is buying a RWD car for this purpose...That I respect. Atleast he's not some dumbass that thinks he can drift his CL. The ONLY FWD car I've ever seen do a good drift is a type R, with a very very skilled driver.

glad you pointed out this statement...
"when every teenager and his sister can drift because they bought a 240 and read import tuner."

the reason i put this, is because the general public "Crowd""Scene" thinks that fishtailing and uncotrolled sliding are drifting...Why you hear comments like "Dood i got my civic so drifting last night"...etc

Now if you can countersteer and opposite lock and bring it back smoothly and just go straight into another drift and do it well, this is drifting. if you can maintain speed and not be jerky and all look like you are just fishtailing then drifting is what you be doin....

as for e-brake drifting...if you have to hold it through the turn, then yeah you are most likely not that good...there is the e-brake style of drifting which is acceptable when you load the front end by regular brakes then turn then e-brake it.

oh well i think we are on the same page. It is just really annoying hearing everyone talk about it and think they are drift king

If you can get enough momentum up entering a turn, the CL does have a bit of lift-off oversteer, like most FWD cars. The trick is to do the ol' Swedish flick and light up the front wheels. The rears will be "along for the ride" and you can't sustain it like you can with RWD or AWD, but you can modulate it well enough with the throttle and ride it out. You never EVER touch the e-brake. The rear will snap back as soon as you release it and potentially send you sliding the other way since there is no way to keep the rear tires slipping. Trust me.

I really doubt the CL drifts... a drift is opposite lock with the entire car sliding....if you post video fo this, i will believe you

"definition of this type of drift"

The Swedish Flick
1: Approach the corner with your car postioned in the middle of the track.
2: Make sure your going just a tiny bit to quick for the corner.
3: As you come to the usual racing line turn in point turn the wheel very quickly to the outside of the corner.
4: Then just as quickly turn it towards the apex of the corner, this will flick the back end out.
5: At the same time as turning towards the apex give it plenty of throttle.
6: You are now either drifting or like me doing a 360 and looking stupid
7: Hold the throttle open and steer into the slide.
8: You'll have to feather the throttle and steer into and out of the slide to hold the drift all the way round the corner.
9: And thats it your a drifter...if only it was that easy

and it is said that with a normal car that the swedish flick will just allow the car to rotate, not slide

a type r the only one?? i saw a vid from a track in japan of a EF9 SiR (88-91 Civic Hatchback) when i was still into my old car, 89 Civic Si... i cant seem to find that vid, but its hella clean, and its a long turn, possibly an oval track, and its right in front of the stands and everyone cheers... so its possible on a manual steering car with a 160hp b16a (same engine as 99-00 civic si).

And for my with my cl-s, havent found a place around here to really road race safely (we dont have any tracks close at all either!!!) but in the last week i've had some fun stomping on the ebrake in my schools parking lot (my excuse is that i want an excuse for new tires)

and was wondering if there is potential damage other than curb rash and worn out tires..?

okay i really dont think he meant ONLY FWD car ever to drift...Also as you can see that was still just a e-brake slide...They still dont compare to a rwd drift

people like Dave Scholz are pioneers with FWD in america...here is a article from stupid street http://www.superstreetonline.com/fea...ehicles/30320/

and here is dave's site
http://www.davescholz.com/

drifting is still very amateur over here, but this guy is one of the first
