I've been wondering the same thing, anyone know the actual bulb sizes? Or should I do an LED conversion. Would like to do hyper whites though, unless the led's are my only option

1157 will NOT fit in the door. Go here and read...I suggest bookmarking it for future reference.

XXX, that's sexy as hell. The whole interior of my car is green, except for the door lights, that's EXACTLY what I want to do for my cars. Lookin sweet man, what type of led's are those?

The green ones in this picture are not the ones in my car. This picture is my experimental set. The ones in my car have a clear outer shell.
Before you solder the LEDs together you should shave the tips off the LED bulbs. This will widen the beam of light. Make sure you dont shave to far down the bulb.

The ones that have the green exterior shell was approx $0.80 ea. but not as bright.

If I'm not mistaken the door light is this.. Step/Courtesy light DE3021
Ebay is an ok place to get mass quantites of LEDs. I got some white and blue 3mm leds that are still burning after almost a year (I know they have a high lifespan, but sometime you get crap and they burn out fast).

You can use them, for anything as long as you have the right resistor inline. A general rule is:
for every one led use 300 ohm resistor
for 2 leds use 200 ohm resistor
for 3 leds use 100 ohm resistor
for more than 3 leds in a row you have to have a 100 ohm resistor in between the set of three.
For example: POWER_100 ohm_led_led_led_100 ohm_led_led_led_100 ohm_led_led_led_and so on......
So you can actually replace anything in your car. I wanted to do my taillights but i was too lazy.

I soldered the peices in and used hot glue to protect the back of the curcuit so I dont ground it out on anything.
The hot glue it just to seal the backing. Everything else is soldered.

i need to learn how to solder bc that shit is awesome dude. props on major originality. about how much did it cost for all the materials and how much of those LEDs and resistors do i need to buy.

soldering gun and solder = $10
glue gun w/ glue sticks = $10
leds 20 pk = $40
resistors 100 pk = $ 5
blank circuit board = $ 3
14 guage auto wire = $ 5
soldering is easy :
- just hold the two things you need to solder together
- put the iron on the area you want to join
- touch the iron with the solder
- wait 2 sec for solder to cool down.

I was working on redoing all my dash lights with white leds, I got to the fog light swtich, the sunroof swtich, the cruise button, and the ligth in the ashtrya, and around the cig. lighter. Then I just kinda ran outta time.
What resistor you need really depends on the spces. of the leds you are using. If it is a bright led then you will need to have a higher resistor to get it to a lower output level (if that is what you are going for). If the resistor is to low then it will be abrighter but it will burn out faster.
Here is a really good site that explains how all this works:
http://www.theledlight.com/ledcircuits.html
it has a link to a great resistor calculator as well.
Soldering is also really easy, you just need to be patient and careful not to fry the led. There are lots of tutorials out there, just google for it. And the only advice I have if you are going to play with all this, get a multi-meter.

You can buy new light bulbs for the license plate holder, I got my set from VXCL, can't wait to put em in. I'm plannin on soldering a bunch of LED's, I will try to throw together a quick DIY when I get to it, with some pics. Thanks for the help xxx
