I've read before that on most cars you can usually lean it out alittle (i.e. less gas) and it'll provide more alittle more power without much consequence.

Is this something you use the V-AFC for?

Yes, you can lean it out with the VAFC as add fuel. You can adjust fuel at certain RPM's AND throttle positions. It's awesome!

Where is the best place to buy one?? What are the advantages of the APEXi SAFC2 as opposed to the APEXi SAFC1? Does anyone know of a less expensive alternative that will meet the same needs of the APEXi? I need one soon! Been hunting ebay all day.... Do you fellas think it would be wise to buy a used one from Ebay? If so, how much would yoos pay for a used SAFC1______, or a used SAFC2_____. Help me out here guys, I want to keep that H22 running strong and safe. With that Fuel Rail, Pressure Regulator, Skunk2 intake Manifold, and that Throttle body...I really want to monitor the performance...... I am sort of in the dark right now....just going by what my Autometer says..... Which tells me 'LEAN' on the freeway in 4th and 5th. But looks okay in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.Is that normal?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am eager to be able to play GOD with my Fuel/Air intake. (+ I don't like the RED when my Autometer says Lean.)

It doesn't monitor anything, it just gives you the ability to make changes. And you want a VAFC, not the SAFC.

You can't play "God" with a VAFC. If you wanted to, you'd get a Hondata or something.

And you can't do anything about your air intake unless you go FI.

What is the difference? And all I really want to do is delegate what the fuel/air ratio is at different RPMS, so I do not run Lean or Rich as well as Remove the Governor on the P13, and set the VTEC to kick in at lower RPMS (4500). Which one should I get? SAFC or VAFC?

What is the difference between VAFC and THIS

V-AFC is designed for VTEC motors... the link you posted is for non-vtec applications.

afc is for cars that dotn have VTEC, the afc 1 and 2 the only difference is the looks, i have the vafc 1, i love it, and when i got mine, it was about 450 but i got my for free fifty free used is ok as long as the harness is not damaged and the right length.

you only want a vafc with our cars. i have mine only adjusted for the VTEC engagement, it is set at 3800,. i got dynoed last weekend at the bay area meet and with the vafc, plugs, SRI, exhaust, no resonator and a dirty filter i pulled a 163.5. i think i could have done more, but i only did one pull since they said i was running a little too lean, like in the 16's, but everyone that ran that day did run lean so we think it was the machine that was off, but you can tune the afc to get better gas milage, more torque, or more hp but not bad for not being tuned

PM me if you have any questions i know a bunch about the VAFC controller, or hit me up on aol im @ jgiguere17

The difference between the VAFC 1 and 2 is not only the difference between looks. The VAFC can adjust the fuel curve by 12 points as compared to only 8 points using the VAFC 1. Also you can adjust the fuel increments by 100 rpm as compared to 500 rpm. There is also a Knocking level meter and engine caution warning.

when it comes to messing with the ECU leave that to a professional, if you mess it up you are out a ECU an easy 3g if im not mistaken, if you pay a pro, i think i paid 100 for it, if they mess up its their fault, and i was working full time, but i have the instructions around here somewhere, i think for the 97 3.0 i think we used the hoda odessy van, the wireing for the ecu is the same if im not mistaken

i have to find it since im going through moving right now i odnt know where to start with all my garage boxes, i dont know which one its in

Thats cool. If you can find it, that would be awesome! As for the wiring and my ECU, I have become very familiar with it over the past month because of the OBD2-OBD1 H22 swap. I have the exact diagrams of ECU and my CL harness, and a good soldering guy. I would think that is all that I will need. How long did it take your guy to install the VAFC? Do you ever adjust it yourself? I plan on taking my car to the DYNO, and finding the points where my engine is running lean and where it is running rich. From that Data, I will adjust it in increments of 500, to get it running at optimum performance.

You just tap into a few wires coming out the ECU. I think only ONE wire needs to be cut and that was the VTEC solenoid wire...I believe...

This is different. There's detailed instructions and it's made for our cars, not just a universal mod.

What does your A/F gauge read on the highway? Does it ever read lean?
