What's up everyone. Do after market headers make that much of a difference? My mechanic told me if I put them on, I would loose bottom end. Is this statement correct? What increases or decreases have you seen with after market hearders?

 

I think that statement is 100% FALSE!!!!!

I have a 3.0 but I do not see it being any different for a 4 cylinder...

I have no difference off the line or in low rpm, but once my vtech kicks at about 3500 rpm to 5500 rpm, my car is noticeably FASTER and pulled cleaner and smoother!!!!

 

if u put on an aftermarket exhaust and a intake u will loose bottom end. ur car already has a header 4-2-1. ur mechanic is wrong unless hes talkin about a 4-1 header which looses low end but makes power up high. i got my dc 4-2-1 header for several reasons
1- much lighter then the stock cast iron (ceramics n e ways)
2- wanted my low end back lost to my cat back and CAI
3- some hp gain mid-high like 2-4

and i got all my low end back and my car got little more power mid-high. also sounded little smoother when i rev. well worth the $300. if ur gettin cat back and cai its well worth it. all 3 work to gether to get the most out of each other.
