disarm the alarm using a key?
I've looked thru the posts about disarming the alarm but it mostly deals with using the remote. My remote is dead and I can't afford to get a new one at this time. My alarm has gone off three times - someone set it off, a racoon, and a train going by the apartment building. Does anyone know if there is a routing of lefts and rights using my key that will disable the alarm. I seemed to have accidentally disabled it the last time the alarm went off but now it's back on again. I'd appreciate any concrete suggestions. Thanks

I tried changing the remote battery and I cleaned the remote but it's seen it's days and now it's done. It did look like someone was chewing on it it was that worn.
Turning the key twice to the right turns off the alarm when it's blaring. Gadds that sucker is loud! What I want is to turn the alarm off with the key entirely. I did it successfully once and the little security light stopped flashing. I did something today, don't know what, and the security light is flashing again. I've already woken up everyone on the east side of our apartment building up once and I'm trying to avoid it myself as well as my getting a good nights sleep.

I think all you have to do to lock the car without arming the oem alarm is to manually lock the doors. Dont use the switch but push the lever to the lock position by hand. If you use the key or switch to lock the doors the alarm will automatically arm itself.

My remote was pretty well used when I bought the car. Cleaning just hasn't restored it.
I'll try the locking with the inside lock like you suggested Jim. I thought I had it fixed when I discovered the trunk well was full of gunk and maple keys. Unfortunately the alarm started beeping again. I'm considering it's humidity causing it.
I'm up in the middle of the night because someone was breaking into cars in the parking lot. They didn't go after mine because it's too close to the building.

Yeah most hondas if you manually lock it (you will have to pull the door release while you move the lock or it won't let you), they won't arm the alarm. But whenever the factory system sees the trigger pulse from the lock switch or key cylinder, it will arm or disarm the alarm.

Sigh..... Good idea, Jim, but no cigar. Tried locking it manually and it just went off again. This time I pulled the fuse.
I'm thinking I might try replacing the fuse and see if that is part of the problem.
