debadging and steering wheel fade
hey guys i was wondering what is the easiest way to debadge the trunk. i have a indiglo acura emblem on the back and i want to take off the acura and cl emblems. someone told me hairspary will take off the sticky stuff. let me know. also i have noticed that my steering wheel is feeling rough, in that, it is fading and the vinal or grey shit is coming off and becoming rough. is there anyway to fix this. i will try to take pics of it later to show what its doing. also i did my custom grill saturday, thanks to revets and everyone for all your help it made it a big success and im happy with the outcome. let me know i will be in and out all day with classes so i will check up on this tonight.
I de-badged last weekend. First, get the tape hot, using hot water or a hair dryer. Using fishing line, put the line under the chrome letters and slowly pull toward one side. Try to keep the line as close to the paint as possible. One the badges come off, carefully scrape the thick tape remains w/ your fingernail. Then use an adhesive remover. I used Goo Gone ($2.00 @ Home Depot). This takes some elbow grease. Keep at it until all of the sticky residue is off. Then wax. It looks great. It took me less than 30 minutes.
what about the fading of the steering wheel that is becoming rough? anyone had this problem? i think it is from gripping the wheel too hard or maybe sun damage, but i am not leaning towards the sun damage cause it rough not just a fade, its rough to the touch.
usually those "armor all" type products cause that "premature wear" My CL did that too, but mine was covered under warranty.
You can go to www.ahmotor.com and they have genuine Honda Leather steering wheel wraps... this will cover up all that worn leather, and it add some dimension to the grip, great if you have large hands like me.
Heres a pic of what the wrap looks like... I love mine, and it wasnt that hard to install, just a little time consuming.

Take the fishing line and slide it underneath the emblem (slide it under then drag it across the bottom of the emblem)...this actually takes it off...then get goo gone to get the 3M tape off. Then wash and wax...
