Get the glue hot with a hairdryer. Use fishing line and slowly slide it between the letters and the trunk lid. After removing the letters, scrap up the big clumps of glue with your fingernail. Use Goo Gone on a rag to get up the remaining glue. Wax it up and you're done. Took me about 30 minutes, most of which was using the Goo Gone. If your paint is good, there probably won't be any marks or scratches. I've read other had some problems, with pits and ghost letters, etc, but mine came out perfect. Good luck!

You can get it at Home Depot, any hardware store and even some drug stores. It comes in a little bottle for about $2.50.
