debadge issues

debadge issues

Since removing my badges from the CL, I have found the glue beneath to be so crusty and hardened that it's been impossible to budge or remove, thus far. I've tried Goo Gone and 3M adhesive remover with absolutely no luck, and tried heating up the area with a hair dryer in combination with both. What are my options now? Wet sanding?

Are you sure that it's still glue? Goo gone should help break up the adhesive after it sits for a while, and a heat gun most certainly should heat up the adhesive enough to make it pliable, if it's down to the clear coat underneath you may have pits in the paint. Pics might help as well

you may have to wet sand it or get a paint job.

once you have the badge off you need to remove the glue asap. of you leave it on i will bake into the paint and you know the rest

i had the same problem, either try buffing it out, or use a rubbing compound. be careful not to rub to much though or you will take off your paint, i had the same situation, and it went away after using the compound and after a few washes and waxes.

heat it up some more. its left over glue that has been on your car for 10+ years and it probably needs to be heated up a lot to be taken off.

if you can, use a heat gun as opposed to a hair dryer. the heat gun is faster

Thanks, guys. Just to clarify what I'm talking about, I accidentally removed the first decal (the Acura lettering) while washing the car. Because I basically just ripped it off, it left pretty much the entire glue print behind on the car, instead of taking at least some of it off with the lettering. So what have is an I old Acura glue print on my trunk. And then I took the other one off in the same manner, because I assumed that the glue was going to easy to remove with the right stuff.

So anyways, maybe I'll try a heat GUN next and get it good and hot to see if it becomes at all pliable. Thanks, again.

well if you ripped it off, then yeah, you need to heat it up. when i was taking mine off, i was heating it for 5 mins and got impatient and tried to chisel it off. now i have ugly looking paint chips. =)

so be patient and itll come off fine.
