Dealer said Im wrong

I went to the Acura dealer today and they told me the 98-99 grille will not fit a 97. The body man told me yea but I don't think he knows. This issue is the difference between me buying a 97 this week or waiting for a 98-99.

what the heck? you want a 97...but with a 98-99 grille? the 98-99 have other features the 97 doesn't...like the chrome thing around the shifter! Garage door opener at the reading light...few other things

hey brah it fits. people who work at dealerships are so fucking stupid. I have a 97 with a 98 grill. when you order the grill, make sure you oreder the chrome emblem - it's a separate item and the emblem from the 97 doesn't fit.

Whoever told you that the grill won't fit doesn't know what they're talking about!

However, the '97 grill is 3 pieces: the black grill itself, the trim ring around the grill, and the emblem/"wings". You'll need the screws that hold the trim ring to the black grill, and the emblem/"wings" to the black grill. The whole assembly fits right into ALL 3 years of 1st Gen CLs.

What dealer is it? We should all send an email asking the same question and also ask if the Honda oil filter will fit on the Acura. I've had a parts guy tell me that once....scared the crap out of me considering this guy is in charge of getting the right parts. I asked what the part number was because I was going to get it from a Honda dealer which was alot closer. He said, nope, Honda oil filters won't work on the Acura. I knew there was no arguing with that kind of stupidity and just asked the Honda parts guy when I got there.

I like the 97 grill because it looks like the grills on current Acura's. But I like the 98-99 grills on our CL's specifically because that distinguishes it from the 97's, like the painted lower panels.

The 98/99 grilles don't look like any other Acuras. The 97 has the wings like all the current/recent ones.
