well... after having my 99 3.0 about three months and now at 73k im taking it in to get the tranny replaced. i was pretty bummed when they told me it would cost about $3400. seeing that i recently got laid off and everything... fun fun. anyway, should i hang on to the car for a year and sell it? i cant deal with having to replace another transmission. will i run into this problem again? is there an ecu upgrade or anything that can be done or anything so this wont happen again? wish i had found this forum BEFORE buying a 3.0 auto... oh well... never learned to drive a manual anyway heh.
The tranny warranty was only extended on the later model CLs, not the first gens (i'm fairly sure). Only some 2000/2001 and the 2002s, not 1999s. Looks like you're in the same spot as the rest of us with dead trannys. Funny how Acura swears nothing is wrong with them and ours are just flukes at 75K miles...
Yeah, sorry to hear about that Xero42ox - it's a tough time to be jobless... especially when you have repairs due. I'm in Mass too, Weymouth to be exact, and my CLs currently at AAMCO in Quincy. They called yesterday and said my Speed Sensor on the tranny was shot, which could be the only problem with my tranny (which has been slipping to the point of complete failure). I don't have the final verdict yet, but if it's just the speed sensor it will be relatively cheap. Go to AAMCO and have them run diagnostics on it - if you go to their webpage you can get a coupon to have it done free (vs. $40 they charge). It might be worth knowing what you're in for at least.
I saw from your profile that you are (were) a telecom tech - I have a bunch of friends working at Allegiance. It's not the best job in the world but it beats collecting $8/hour and I think they're always hiring...

well i picked my car up earlier today... it's running nice and smooth, feels sooooooooo nice
i got "hooked up" by someone close who just so happens to work at an acura dealership. luckily it was done for a very reasonable price. seeing that i bought the car over 60k or whatever it is, it wasn't certified so the dealership i got it from didnt offer much of a warranty. oh well... im happy... for now, until the next problem arises

I thought the powertrain warranty was 100K?
Is it different? I bought mine Acura certified used, and that is what the Certified Program describes.
