i was driving regular then all ofa sudden i hear BANG then the engine check light turns on and now when i press the gas my shit barely moves. and the green light around D4 wont go away can anyone help relate a problem? fuck right when i just did everything to i even put the tranny cooler in someone please tell me its something else.

 

"Bang" noises are not the tranny going, thats just a slipping feeling.

A "Bang" usually occurs when something in the engine breaks. Do you have a CAI? Go through any deep puddles lately?

When you press the gas, do the rpms go up and not the speed? or does it just hardly move? Is it making any noises now?

Sounds like something snapped internally and thats what the bang was and why you have no power right now.

 

i have a short ram, i didnt go through any puddles

and the problem with acceleration is what you just said it the RPM goes up alot but it doesnt go very much i dont really hear any noise's just high rev and no speed

 

sounds like what happened when my shift solenoid when out. except for the bang.

if the D4 light is stuck on then something is wrong witht e transmission. Try putting the shifter from d3 to 1 or 2 and if it shifts really hard between them then it is the shift solenoid. go to an autozone and have then pull the code, if it's teh shift solenoid, it's not too hard to replace, but don't pay out teh ass like I did for it

Ar there any other noises? Any rattling when you rev the engine? Have you had any serrious work done on the transmission or the drive axels? Almost sound like a damaged torque converter or maybe a damaged transaxel. Just a guess. How fast can you drive. No more than 5mph, 20mph, 30 or above. Was the bang metalic or more like a backfire? There are soooo many things this could be. When you shift down to 1st, does it feel like it makes it to 1st? If so, can you shift up through the gears? What codes has your ECU thrown. All of this information will help to diagnose your problem. Let us know.

 

yep, so it's like it can only use gears 1 or 3 right? then it's teh shift solenoid. I'll grab my helms when I get off owrk and see how tough it is to replace, but it only costs like $80 for paart, + unknown labor.

 

i was unable and afraid to take it up to any speeds i basically rode out at 5500 rpm consistantly untill it reached 20-25 mph and rode it home the noise was like a back fire but not as loud just an Abrupt BLAP! and i never had any serious work done to anything drive train or motor related. first gear feels like i have NO torque it barely goes and how do i check what codes my ECU has throw the problem just came up like an hour and a half ago

damn... well dont feel bad, its a common problem on the 3.0...

 

check the fluid level and make sure its to the full mark. when you did the tranny cooler did you add the extra .5 qts? if so did you use honda atf, you have to use honda atf, jiffy lube tells you they put an additive in to make dextron III the same as honda atf, but to my knowledge there is no such additive. first off determine weather its the torque converter or the linear solenoid (shift soelnoid) put the car in 1 put your foot on the brake and press the gas.. the rpm's shouldnt go past 2400-2500 rpm's, if it goes above say 2800 your torque converter is shot. if they are within the 2400-2500 rpm range the torque converter is ok. theres two more possible problems the lock up solenoid could be shot.. or the linear solenoid.. if from a dead stop it feels like the car is starting off in 4th gear, its the linear solenoid. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR WITH A BAD LINEAR SOLENOID. YOU WILL DESTROY THE CLUTCH PACKS AND BE OUT 2500$.

i found the problem.... RIGHT under my nose... my tranny is half empty NO FLUID OMG im going to settle this with the autoshop that did the flud change after my tranny cooler went in. it wasnt leakage on my behalf gurantee'd they JIP'd me .... if there is damages i am going to press charges...

Man, I'd be pissed as hell. Actually, I AM pissed as hell FOR you. I hate dealing with imcompetent people or assholes. They are either stupid asses and forgot to put fluid in, or they think they can take advantage of an elderly man and charge you for a new tranny when it blows. Or, it leaked when you drove it home.

but the bad news... the damage has been done my tranny is fucked... my mechanic said who ever did the tranny fluid fill up hardly put enough in and he is going to have to take the thing apart and rebuild it.... god damnit im going to press charges this is ridiculous ... perfectly fine to completely destroyed

me and my pops went out and ripped thjere heads off... they obviously lied and denied it, my mechanic friend who is also known by them will call in tomorrow and talk to them THEY FUCKED MY SHIT UP!!!!! THEY WILL PAY FOR A COMPLETE REBUILD... they basically accused us of lieing and that it was our fault as a third party what a laod of shit like i would try to destroy my own tranny wtf... god damn im pissed off

Almost the same thing happent to me. Last year when i bought mine we noticed my car wasn't shifting right. Anyway, the dealership got it all fixed and i got a new tranny out of it.

Dude, whatever you do, do not get hostile. You will get no where....Just threaten in a soft normal tone. Tell them that you have already contacted your lawyer and that they should be recieveing a phone call as well as writing a letter to the better business burueu. . Once you say the "L" word and BBB, business owners tend to admit to thier mistake and will fix your shit. DO NOT GET HOSTILE.... If its a small family owned type shop and they have some negitive comments on the BBB report, they will lose customeers. Especially mechanics. They are sooo shady these days and people see that they have negative comments on thier report people wont go to them.

shitty deal...... i feel ya tho.... my tranny fucked up just like yours did with the whole hitting the gas and only going like 5 mph but it was cause of a loose wire from my ecm to my tcm. But yea do what swervin CL said to do. Its sound like the best way to take care of the problem imo.

 

Just remember that you can not get hostile. It would be best to contact them directly. Tell them you want the problem fixed, and assert your intentions should they fail to fix the problem. From that point, it is off to small claims court for you and the shop. Did you or your buddy install the transmission cooler or did this shop? And if it was you and your buddy, did you top it off. But if you are certain it was their fault, File complaints with the local chamber, BBB, and file a claim against them in small claims court in the county in which you reside. Good luck.

 

im not even going to get violent that will only make things worse on my behalf... but damn they better just admit its there wrong and rebuild it... i put the tranny cooler in and drove to their shop right across the street from my business... they did their thing i drove it home i live close and it sat in my garage for 2 days i came to drive her and BLAM problem erupts my shit aint leaking my mechanic buddy straight up says YOU"V BEEN JIPPED
