"cricket" chirping coming from engine!

Hey Folks!

Starting today I have been hearing a high pitched chirp coming from under the hood when driving the car (97 2.2 Cl 5 spd). It is fairly loud and sounds just like a cricket (but it's not, I'm sure). It only happens with the clutch engaged and the engine at lower rpms (say 2500 to 4000). Also, the noise doesn't vary frequency with the engine speed. I have my suspicions about this but I want to know what ya'll think. Thanks for any help!

Which belt is the likely culprit?

Also, could this be evidence of my clutch slipping?

I have the same damn problem with my car. The dealer told me that the reason is the clutch bearings are starting to wear out. He suggested that I wait to fix it and deal with the noise. Then again, this is the same dealer that forgot to put the exhaust tips back on my car after they replaced the exhaust system (Acura of Ocean, btw)

I'd say take it in for service and tell them about it, you might be looking at a new clutch assembly.

Is it dangerous to let the clutch bearings go? Should I wait to replace until the clutch wears out?
