CRAP! Hit a parked car

Well, I was delivering pizza tonight on a two lane road, but there is only room for one lane of traffic. The right side of the road is a line of parked cars.
I didn't want to hold up any traffic that wanted to go through there, so I was hoping to find an empty space to pull into.
Well the entire road was completely filled, so I thought I was screwed (would have to park far away and walk) and started to speed up on out of there.
Just as I started to speed up, I see a small space (in front of a driveway) and quickly turn in.
I guess I tried to turn too tight, too fast, because I clipped the left side of their front bumper.
Starting from right behind my passenger door, down to my wheel (including the wheel) I scraped and dented the shit out of my car.
Their bumper wasn't bad at all, just some paint scraping on the corner.. no denting or anything. It was a Jetta (I think) and they had a rubber thing going around it, so that saved some damage for them.
I knocked on the door it was parked in front of, but all the lights were out, and nobody came to the door. So, I left my number and insurance info on a piece of paper on their windshield and left.

Any idea on how much it might be to replace/fix that area? And I'm hoping USAA will replace my wheel too.
Besides a new windshield on my old car a few years ago, this is going to be my first claim. Any idea if my rates will go up? Any idea if/how much I will have to pay out of pocket ?

Thanks guys

do the dent removal trick and see if that fixes most of it and try to buff out the scrapes since it was plastic.
all you need is the computer duster compress air cans and a hair dryer or heat gun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miNykNl-0NM

I did that in a parking lot after my aunt died. I had some buffer in my car and buffed out their scratches and my mom told me we had too much to deal with to leave my phone # hahaha, so I just left since you couldn't even tell I hit their car after I finished buffing it. I can't think your rate will go up too high because you're not going to have to get new panels; just see if it'd be cheaper to just fix it yourself and not make a claim.

i dont have a pic, but the red lines are scrapes/scratches/gouges and the red circle is a big dent (dent can probably be pulled out)
isnt my car btw, just grabbed the pic off the web

this is all metal i believe, except for the side molding
plus my wheel is all scraped up

How dare you belittle a CL by delivering pizzas in it?

Nah, just kidding. But I'm sorry to hear that. I'm waiting for myself to do the same thing. I just know my first accident will be something stupid I do.

I hope you took some pictures of the damage on your car and on the other. It would suck if they turn around and say that you did much more damage... hey it happened....

I say go back tomorrow with a camera and take picture of the damage of the cars and talk to the owner. If you don't go through insurance, your rate won't go up.

Yeah, I didn't think so.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to pop out as much of the denting as a I can (it's worse than I initially thought), and go over it all with a buffer to see what I can do.
I don't have the money to replace it, and I doubt I have the money to get it fixed up, not even to mention my wheel.
Oh well, I guess I'll be driving around with a messed up car for quite some time

Sorry I don't have much to add in answering your questions but I gotta give props - what you did shows real strength of character.

Your rates shouldn't go up for just one claim, especially if it is low $$$. If the rates do go up I suggest finding a new insurance company. Yes though make sure everything if covered and legit on your end. When I was 18 I hit a lady who blatantly ran a red light, she cried and told me how sorry she was/stupid she felt/glad that I was ok. She then told her insurance company later that I ran the red light and hit her!

Funny I just recently fixed mine. You can take off the interior panel on the other side of that dent, just snap it out. Might have to move the back seat out the way, I just pulled it up enough to work around it. Be careful not to break the little sensor that tells your interior light when your door is closed because it's up in there to right against the door. Then you have full access to the backside of that qauter panel. Now you can go at pushing/beating that dent out. I used a different stuff like a rubber hammer and something to reach up in there agianst the middle of the dent on the support part of where that side molding is and beat it out (you'll see what I mean). Very carefully mind you. It is possible to make it worse then befor. Then I took some steel wool and cleaner and cleaned off all scrapes and scratches off the paint. Then some heavy duty turtle wax cleaner to make it look right again. Then some turtle wax polisher to make it look normal. Almost as good as new.

So which story is better?

I just got a 98 3.0. had it for about a month. I help out teaching my cuz how to drive and she does alright when I take her out. My sister takes her out in my car and my cuz is turning at a stop sign. Well, she sees her friends stopped at the other stop sign dancing around the car. So she keeps looking over and being all teenie-bopper and doesn't pay attention, so she keeps on turning and ends up hitting a parked car. Luckily for me, my car was just scratched on the bumper and side mirror. My sister left a note and the owner was cool because it was an old minivan and didn't do anything about it. But that's not all - my sister drove my cuz home after that. She normally drives a truck. So she pulls my car into a driveway on a hill and scrapes the underside of the bumper, right under where my cuz scraped the minivan. The damage underneath was much bigger and deeper.
