Not necessarily, but bullshit is lurking. This so-called mod advances the timing of detonation of the engine and may cause your engine to ping, knock, etc. It will give you a small increase in HP but not worth the risk. The resistor is usually held down by Electric tape (unless one plans to solder) and can easily short out.

Pinging and Knocking otherwise known as Pre-Detonation occurs when unburned leftover fuel vapors get superheated and causes the engine to go off at the wrong time. The intake sensor mod will make you run rich and causes this build up that will lead to pinging. Eventually if the problem is not corrected the engine will overheat to a point where metal becomes liquid and that's when you say goodbye CL!

The mod also depends on the rating of the resistor. But undoubtingly the seller did not test this on our vehicles and would not know. A high rated resistor may lead to the pinging and predetonation and to avoid complaints the seller must be selling a low rated resistor which would not give an increase at all in HP.

So to say in short, don't be fooled by that jackass. A resistor costs $.99 and a strip of electric tape is less than $.02 why pay $4.99 plus shipping? or anything over a buck? One thing the seller may get credit for is knowing which wire of the ECU to splice into.

Well, hope this helps,
James
