Cracked armrest

Anyone elses plastic in the door's armrests crack? I remember someone telling me that the door armrest felt funny on the passengers side along time ago but never thought of it. Than the other day my g/f was driving my car so i was in the passengers seat and noticed the plastic under the arm rest is all cracked. My sister told me it happened like right after we bought the car in 97 Never knew but is there anyway to fix it?

How do you tell? Is it just something you notice if your arm is on it? I thoroughly clean my interior and I've never seen cracks. How did you miss seeing them for 4 years?

Hope they fix it for you!

ummm. armor all like other silicone products soaks in to vinyl, rubber, plastic etc... Yes even hard plastic, which also helps prevent uv rays from damaging surface. But yea you guys are fucked ain't nothing going to fix that, maybe you guys should start pimpin towards the center of your car. Or try out www.acuraautomotiveparts.net if your dealer ain't too friendly

jesus christ, its not a surface abrasion, its the plastic that forms the door panel underneath that is covered with leather/plastic that you obviously clean too much, drop an elbow on your door and you'll feel it break, then it squeeks when you rest your arm on it..

Thank you fOde this isnt a surface problem!!! It is underneath the plastic you see. You can not see it is cracked but when you put your arm on it, it makes a creeking noise and you can feel it. Armor All can not help or prevent this problem

Hmmm! That makes it harder to fix!

I can't seem to remember exactly what makes up that portion of the door panel. I believe that you can "replace" the cracked plastic portion from the "guts of another door panel". You'd think as often as I've had that panel off, I'd remember; but I don't!

I was going to suggest the obvious if the cracking occurred in the "Here" section. Replacing that piece is relatively easy (finding the same color is the bitch)!

dude same thing happened to mine (99 cl), and it was making this annoying cracking sound every time i but my elbow on it, annoying as s*%^!!

but I took it to the dealer and since it is still under warranty the guy said he will hook it up for me.

Is yours under warranty?

My center console arm rest is also wearing out quick, its made pretty cheap if you ask me............maybe I can rig some black fabric cushion over or something!!!

oh well good luck dude!!1

DUDE! I was wondering WTF that was whenever I put my elbow down (drivers side). I don't see anything wrong with the surface so I really don't care if I don't get it fixed but I wasn't gonna mention anything on the board cause I figured I was the only one.

Yeah i was hoping i wasnt the only one either and the board was slow so i thought i would ask. I guess its not a big deal that it's broken but its just annoying now that i know about it.

I noticed the crack in the arm rest about a year ago but thought the installers did it when they put in the front speakers. I guess that isn't the case since almost everyone in forum has this problem. I just broke 50000 miles so I screwed as far as the warranty goes. Maybe they will recall it. I'm going to call the dealership asap.
