cooked tranny

beware all wit a 3.0, ADD A FUGGIN TRANNY COOLER!!!!! i was driving the other night, when i came to a stop sign. when i went to go all was well till it "tried" to shift to second. it took like 10 seconds before it would shift to second. i took it to aamco, the dude said i boiled my clutch packs, and they want $1800 for a rebuild. i mean this was all of a sudden. one minute it was good the next minute...... SHIT. so please unless ur rich and like to get ur tranny rebuilt. PUT A COOLER ON oh yea is there anywhere in tampa that could do it cheaper?

What...you've got a 3.0 auto and were manually shifting it from 1 - 2 - d3 - d4??? That probably dosnt help much....but ive done it too so i see where your comming from...thanks for the advice...

(how much is a tranny cooler?) Im gonna get my tranny flushed soon so maybe they could do it then??

Does a tranny cooler help with performance any or just with a little peice of mind that hopfully it dosnt blow up?? lol

no the tranny was in d4 the whole time. the tranny tried to shift it self. DO NOT get it flushed. if u do all the particles will be disturbed and cause hard parts like gears and syncro's to go out. just change the fluid. the cooler keeps the fluid from reaching its burning point. when it gets too hot it cooks the clutch packs. no performance gain but is good to have. thier like 35$. a VERY wise investment.

Definitely a good investment, even if you aren't running nitrous like FastVtec or myself. Real cheap and very easy to install yourself as well. I'm not much of a mechanic and I had no problem.
