console compartment
this is a bit off-topic but only applies to first-gen. You know when you open the compartment in the console, there's a little elastic band in there? What the hell is it for?? I can't think of one damn use for that thing

I was thinking of the small compartment underneath the head unit!
I now know you're talking about the center console between the seats! I see it!!!!!!
I need to find something to put there!

I keep one of those detailing brushes tucked under that strap.
When I'm sitting in line somewhere (ATM - McD's - etc), I give the clock, radio & vents a quick brush.
Cuts-down on clean-up time when I finally get around to using a vaccuum on the carpet. Plus, there's always so much dust settling around that stuff.

A simple, but not too practical solution is to always use the climate control and never open your windows! hehe
