well i've heard from owners on here that the 3.0s have more problems with the trannies than do the 2.2/2.3s. so i looked up at work on our alldata system for common reoccuring problems related to transmissions. and the list was relatively short for both the 3.0, 2.2, and the 2.3..? so whats really the case? i figured i'd ask you guys since there are plenty of [happy]3.0 owners here.

list probably is pretty short, the issues most people encounter with the 1g CL is the auto trans, various valves (IAC, PCV etc) and stupid ass window regulators. atleast, thats what most of the help threads are about.
don't listen to that kid.
the 3.0 tranny's are not the greatest and they are also way more expensive to fix. I think mine was one of the cheapest at $1700cdn for a rebuild.
with the 4cyl you have the option of a manual, take it. lol. the 4cyl auto would also be easier to fix or even find a used one.
as far as the 3.0 mileage goes, mines not that bad, about 10.2L/100kms, which is about the same as what my built f22 got. all depends on how you drive.

Dave is right. 3.0 trannys are very suspect. I had to replace mine around 90-100 and it cost me a little over 2,000. It was either get rid of my baby or put up the big bucks and it was worth it. 3.0 gas mileage isn't too terrible if you're not beasting the V-tech all day long.
