comments on Dynomax

Does anyone here have Dynomax DNX bolt-on muffler installed?

I did a search here, but couldn't find much detail as far as sound and performance.

Just saw one for cheap ($90 ) that's polished, 3" tip, and it's a bolt-on so i could install it myself.

And I know you guys might push me into getting greddy sp, or tanabe, or even apexi, which are A+, but my 2 problems are: the majority sell cat-back, and I only need the axle-back, and im really tight on $$$ right now.

Thanx

well... if you want the full power out of the exhaust... chances are ur gonna want to redo ur piping from the Cat to the muffler.

axle back = noise

it looks nicer.. but really serves no purpose.

im not too fond of single tip exhausts on our gen of cars... id go with a dual tip! but thats just me

umm not too sure...i havent done any searching... but i know that magnaflow makes some.
get a 22 inch resonator to keep the noise level down so the 5-0 wont get on ur ass about it.

ive also seen some nice ebay ones! oh and.. id try not to get the exhaust tips too big!

the problem with welded exhaust is the road salt which eats it up!

my stock muffler (soon to be gone) has been welded twice. took it to a muffler shop where they cutted a part of the piping to remove the rustspot and welded a piece to save the muffler. After 3 months, the welding rusted. took it back to the place and told me is because of the salt on the roads, yet he rewelded a new piece at no charge. 4 months later, same problem.

this is why i sticking to a bolt-on muffler

Well if any one has comments on a dynomax w/ 3" tip and i'm trying to keep a near stock sound, deep but not loud.

BTW correct me if i'm wrong, but if a go with bigger than 3" tip, the muffler would be louder?

I'll let u guys know it worked out, and update on the muffler's sound and "performance", since not many cl owners have em'

The dual tip obviously looks much better but, hard to find a bolt-on type, other than Bosal .

the DNX didn't look too bad. the moderate tip doesn't look like a mega leaf-blower, and it has a nice concave design all around it...

Should only cost you about 40-50 bucks to have it welded on by a muffler shop... I think I paid 40 to have the old stockie cut off and the new one put on.

eventually... ur gonna have to replace ur exhaust system because of excessive rust... so might as well get new piping!
