Come back tour..
What's up guys?
Most of you probably won't remember me but I know there's still some OGs that will & have been wondering wtf happened.
For the 's..
I had the dream swap which was the j32a2 6 speed. It was gonna be fucking ridiculous.
Anyways, to make a long story short, I ended up having to part out everything and sent the car to the scrapyard due to financial reasons. That was the worst feeling ever seeing it get towed away for good after going through countless years of ups and downs & knowing the potential it had.
After that debacle I didn't even have a car for almost 2 years cuz I just didn't care, lost the drive. Fast forward to last Sept when I was offered something that was too tempting to pass up. 98' 2.3CL with Tein SS suspension, no rust & MINT interior all for $1,500. Only catch was that it had a blown blue top h23a, which obviously meant I had to swap a motor in. I debated for about a month whether or not I wanted to get back into the game. After being told it was a bad idea from, friends, gf, family & co - workers I decided to go for it lol, it was exactly what I needed/missed in my life.
So the plan was to have a nice STOCK daily driver, just lowered, no funny business. F23's are a dime a dozen, under 100k motors for about $500 or less. The problem was that I wanted something different, obviously. I didn't have extra funds so it had to be around the $500 price range. After much research I decided on the under estimated f20b. Not nearly as much tq as the h23a bluetop but the way I saw it was that it had roughly the same tq as the stock F23 but with 200 hp (197hp if you wanna get technical) & a sick top end since it has a h22 type S head. Ended up grabbing a f20b long block for $550 & made sure it was the manual version (200hp).
The best thing about buying this car was that the blown h23 was originally my old h23 swap that I sold for the J-swap. So I knew the transmission was mint & it even had my old exedy stage 1 clutch . The swap was pretty straight forward, just had to clean up some wiring butchery thanks to the shop that did the work on the car.
I had managed to hold to a few old parts from the original CL just in case I were to stumble onto another CL down the road. So it feels good knowing that part of the original still lives on. The parts were a set of black housing headlights & a WW front/rear lip. The front end had an instant facelift which was just too perfect. I found a set of thule roof racks with locks for $25, deal of the century in my books, just need to grab a fairing.
Don't mind the clear bra from 98
It feels great to be back & the fun has just begun. I'm currently in school so mods are gonna take a bit longer than I'd like but I'm not too concerned right now. She's far from perfect but she pulls hard everyday so I can't really complain.

I can't tell you the size of the smile I got when I saw this thread with your username. So glad that you're back around bro. Was sad to hear you parted and sold the OG CL but glad that you're back around. Was the black one another member on here's car?

Awww man you're back! Awesome! I've been going through the same type of deal with my CL, trying to get it back into shape. Really happy you're back in the game, welcome back!

I can't even begin to describe how it feels to be cruising in teh CL again, feels even better that everyone hated on it to begin with..
Seems like the F20b is getting stronger by the day even though the stock piping is restricting to say the least. Managed to find someone selling a magnaflow 2.25" cat-back exhaust with magnaflow resonator & dual tip muffler for only 100 bucks which is just unreal. It's used obviously but I can't complain for the price & its gonna be a night/day difference over stock.
Hoping to grab it in the next couple weeks, being a broke college kid FTL

Haven't been on in a while, and certainly no OG, but congrats on getting it back. I've recently fell back in love with my CL even if it is a silly f23. Can't wait to see more from you and if you (or anybody) is cruising through Northwest Ohio you can hit me up for that bowl!
