Cold air intake

Why doesn't anyone make an intake specifically for the first gen CL? I am guessing that we have to order the 98-00 Honda Accord 4-cyl part instead? Also, what is the big black plastic piece on the side of the stock intake?

The cold air intakes for the Accords fit on our CL's. I'm not sure what the big black thing is, but when I was installing my intake I just ripped everything out. The motor sounds so much better with the intake on. Heres a link to a pic of my intake.

That exactly what I want for my car. I am going to go with the cold air setup and put the filter in my fender. I will definitely use the bypass valve from AEM since it is the rainy season here in Florida. Should I use the value cover breather filter like you have or just use the hose from the air intake?

I know the breather really doesn't do anything but I don't understand how it's bad for your car? the only thing it does is let hot air out under the hood rather then back into the intake.

well if u put a breather on there is no air bein forced in from the intake. honda made that for a reason. the pcv valve is for burning off the engine gasses. om my truck there in no other hose on my vavle covers. there is just one pcv valve. so why does honda have 2? its oviosly there for somethin and i beleive what ive been told cuz it makes sense to me so i got rid of my breather. from what i under stand some air is forced in from the intake through the hose and the pcv valve is hooked up to the intake manifold which would suck air out. even so the breather does nothing for ur engine and looks a little out of place. why not just get a colored hose or just dress it up with an engine kit.

but the i heard that unless u stick a smaller hose in the hole of the intake and slash cut it and point it agaist the direction of the air bein sucked in then u dotn get any positive pressure. so i dont know if the aftermarket inakes are designed to make air flow into the valve covers or not. all i know is i heard nothin but not to put a breather on. after a couple thousand miles ur engine should start to get screwed up. if i can find the post over at superhonda in the teg forum ill send a link to it.

I have the AEM CAI for the V6 Accord but when I had it put in the guy said they make it for the CL. I don't know for sure so check it out. My CAI from AEM works fine and I've been happy with it ever since.

Yep, it fits perfectly except for the mounting spots. All I did was stick a piece of rubber between the mounting arms and chasis to dampen the vibration. It works great and i love the noise when i step on the gas.

hello... the air by-pass is simple in its performance.. it does nothing until it needs to...lol
when your filter becomes wet or something of the nature, it shuts off the filter and breathes through the by-pass... this prevents from engine damage.
