Which coilover set do you think I should get?

Ive narrowed it down to a few, I wanted to know how you people out there have got on with these particular brands and/or models:

Tein SS w/EDFC (about $1500 in the end)
I like this option because of the EDFC option, and Tein is an awesome brand that Ive heard tons of great things about and I like the adjustable dampers as opposed to the Basics, im driven away because of the straight up cost of the whole thing

Tanabe Pro S-0C (about $850)
again ive heard good about Tanabe, this one is a good looking unit for the price, non-adjustable dampers, its got this interesting helper spring thing that apparantly alleviates preload on the main coil or something....... I like it because I can revert it to almost factory ride height in case I ever need to and the cost is nice

Omnipower Sport or Street (about $650)
cost is the driving factor on this one, i see in the newb guide that its "surqrisingly high quality" and also its got 32 adjustable damper settings

K-Sport Kontrol Coilovers (about $800)
ive seen um on a few friend's cars, they seem OK and all, they seem to like um, and with 32 damper settings theyre pretty flexible

Megan Racing coilovers (about $950)
I know Chris on here has them on his 3.5, and another friend of mine has um on his RSX Type-S, they seem pretty nice, got 32 levels of adjustability, and pillow ball mounts and all that

in the end Im leaning towards the Teins with the EDFC simply because of the EDFC's abilitites, despite the cost of it, but my 2nd choice are the Tanabes

U should try searching, if you did, you would know that the EDFC doesn't fit on our cars, the omni's are NOT adjustable dampening, and there was a GB for KSports

I think your 2 best options are tanabe and ksport

K bye

He wants adjustability and the one draw back on the omnis that I found was you can't change the stiffness, that's why you have them

im looking for a good ride, while at the same time good handling, so really I need something with adjustable dampers, but its not exactly a MUST HAVE type thing, I can deal with a rough ride if I get equally as good handling on the other end of it.... thats why I was looking at the SS with EDFC, but I guess if they wont fit, they wont fit, Boo hoo, move on.......... if thats the case though I might go and spend some more on some Tanabe S-S coilovers for some adjustability, too bad Tanabe's equivilant to EDFC (Tanabe TEAS) doesnt have dampers for our aplication

I also saw a few others that were semi eye-catching like Apex'i World Sport and Tokico Competition.... but with all thats goin on its probably down to the Tanabe S-0C or just sticking to Tein Basic, or just the SS without the EDFC, because theyre still adjustable are they not.........

i love my tein basics. they're a reputable brand and the ride is very comfortable and quiet. my car is pretty low and the ride isnt bouncy at all. for the price, its a good deal, no surprises.

K bye

OK upon searching, I have learned a few things:

1) Yes the omnis are NOT adjustable, I read further on the shop's website and what not, theyre only ride height adjustable, my bad

2) didnt know about the GB on K-Sports, I might look into that, I mean the K-sports do look like a great choice on paper and all

3) I searched for "Tein EDFC" and found this here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ight=Tein+EDFC, I dunno if thats the one you were refering to, but I just made a search in 1st gen and thats the closest thing I saw, in this case I think he just bought the wrong kit, maybe, different kits come with different motors??, I didnt find anything about it not fitting in the engine bay though, but the right kit isnt so common, our kit is the 12120, with 4 of the M12 motors......... but im sure you all did your homework so I wont waste our time on all that

I mean if it falls through the Tein SS-Ps are still a great option, good quality and still adjustable, sure its manually by hand, but oh well

and while im here I may as well ask, but if I were to get say the Tanabes that are used with stock upper mounts, can I buy Tein pillow ball mounts and use those instead??? if so is there any benefit??

Ok ill make the decision for u, and save u a lot of time and money.

Get the Omni power (street) if u can handle a rough ride, the handling is amazing. If u cant handle the rough ride get tein basics, or tanabe; keep in mind ull save hours of labor with the ksport or omni powers because they come assembled already.

ive had a set of tein ss's and now im on ksports. I like the ksports cause the come with top mounts (NOT pilowballs), you can adj the strut, and most importantly, they go lower than the teins

im looking for something that could possibly revert back to factory height if I ever need to is the thing, and the Tein's minimum drop is already pretty low for me, I dunno the min on the K-sports, but yeah....... thats why im looking at the Tanabes, theyve got a min of half an inch at front and 0 drop at the rear

got all those and should be OK then, not sure about the monkey wrench 'thing' but I think were OK, if not weve probably got a gay old SAE "close enough" sized wrench

I voted for the k-sports. I have had them on my car for a little under 10K miles and haven't had any problems with them. The ride can get a little bumpy but they are defiantly worth it.

That's all I used to get my omni's off to sell to daniel (this guy ^^) 12, 14 and 17 mm sockets and wrenches, that's all. Breaking the bolts the first time is the biggest pain, I had my shop do that

just curious, how often do you have to have coilovers rebuilt? And what kind of warranty do the d2's/ksports come with?

That's why I'm kinda leaning towards the GC/ koni yellow combo...lifetime warranty ftw, and no coilover rebuilding.

definitely

I've heard nothing but great things about the combo

I've already got the koni yellows from my 93 accord, I just need to get some gc's with the adapters. so for 3.0's, we need gc sleeves from the 98+ v6 accords? or are the 90-97 accord gc sleeves fine?

I also was thinking about the Koni/GC combo, it looks like a real good setup and great on the money too, but the thing is a full coilover set like the Teins are perfectly matched springs with the shocks because theyre by the same people on the same part, they do their R&D so I dont have to

U know guys, the problem i have with the omnis is that the length of the coil. The spring and tube length(stroke) is so short that if u hit bumps on the freeway it sends u flying. And if i need to jack my car up, i cant go up too high or ill have 3 wheels in the air. this creates a really harsh ride on the freeway. perfect for the streets. Ksports, D2's are the same correct?

Teins...much better ride than all of them, but it depends what you want..Do you want the ability to adjust the ride and have a soft ride and be slammed, or do you want to be slammed to the erf dragging your downpipe with a stiff ride. Regardless of what setup you get it aint like youre gonna be winning any autocrossing competitions with the CL

I wanted Tein SS but I am on a budget because the house needs work too, and I don't need to adjusting ride height all the time but performance wise a good coilover will outperform my Eibach Prokit + Tokico Illumina

Why not Koni Yellow? The others you list are lower end than either of these two... you're going to have it long enough that you will forget the price difference, and plus you've done without it all this time.

I think i might just settle on the SS-Ps and maybe give the EDFC a shot, if not I can always turn around and eBay the bitch, but ive been seeing that some of the 2nd gen guys got it and like um so I might go with that, and ive heard from them in their threads that ive read up on, that Teins come with a lifetime warranty and I can just have um rebuilt and not replaced............. now the real question is whether to order it as is, of special order it with stiffer springs, ive read to just order it as-is then get springs later so that I still have the softer springs just in case
